Is there any way to make the music I find on Lime Wire into a file on my computer ?

I'm using LW as well... it isn't illegal in general, so I can tell you... (@Mods: He may download not-copyrighted files only). In the upper corner, you choose Tools->Options and you get this:

Here you choose, where you will download things. BTW: NEVER download Program files, that are exactly 228Kb big. VIRUS!
