Notes:
I was surprised to discover that elements of my designs were already used in other pokemon before, but since none of those is a proper mermaid pokemon and these bring new stuff to the table, I decided to do them anyway.
While doing research, a clear connection between mermaids, the sea and venus/aphrodite came to light, looking for inspiration for the basic shapes, I remembered that venus is connected to the pisces constellation, and she's also frequently depicted as coming out of a seashell (I'll let you figure out the symbology), that gave me the basic ideas for each stage; a fish that wishes to be human/breathe outside (yes, I know water pokemon can breathe air, shut up) that evolves into a seashell, and from there, the mermaid is born, as a venus surrogate.
Charmell's shells are both predicting what will be lovenere's shells, and a remnant of a previous idea, where I had the fishie gather and wear shells and starfish, that got half scrapped; its fins are quite obviously, hearts. The ribbon coming out of its rear is like the ribbon joining the fish of the pisces constellation.
Scallove's shell is heart-shaped too, but due to the viewing angle it may not look so. The pearls growing on its sides are like the multiple eyes lining the sides of scallops (being the same color as its real eyes helps to disguise them, too). The cut on the upper shell is both to define the heart shape and is in the shape of the symbol of the chalice (I'll let you figure that one out too, I'm slipping so much crap past the radar here that you wouldn't believe.).
As for Lovenere, I didn't want to make a fully human-shaped mermaid, hence why I took the venus de milo (yeah, I know, it was not original at all) as a reference. But as much as I didn't want her to get arms, I didn't want to not give her something up there, so I gave her a couple of (relatively small) flowing fins, with seashells like the ones covering Charmell's fins. Lovenere, when swimming, can get her fins inside the shells and on her chest, looking like the venus de milo and using only her tail as propulsion. The colors came from pink hearts, teal water, and the ribbon/hair and shell color came from botticelli's "birth of venus".
As for the moves, I tried to give them most love related moves, and some good water type moves; they are still lacking in the fairy type department, and I had to make sure the movesets didn't overlap too much with clamperl's, luvdisc's and milotic's (and couldn't do it, sadly). The fact that the middle stage is a shell also brought me many problems, there are probably a good amount of moves we can throw out.
Oh, oh, and in the wild, their hold item is heart scale.

Wouldn't it just be better to give the Pokemon Memento rather than another signature move? I may be wrong, but we've made far more signature moves than I anticipated considering the caution earlier in the year. Or, instead of Swan song, use Perish Song.
 
So there was a point in time where I actually did come up with some fakemon that wasn't terrible. I don't mind sketching out them digitally if I end up not being too lazy and look for it.

One was a fakemon that looked like the halfway point of Liligant and Gardevior lines, three stage evo grass type. I think I made it grass/psychic. You know those spiked balls that fall off trees? The ones that hurt horridly and make you lose your balance? I made a grass type line based off of that too. Kinda resembles the Chespin line, drew it a few years ago as well. Off the top of my head, that's all I can remember. Wait, I lied. I also game up with a fox fakemon too, but didn't like it so much since it came out looking like Renemon. I like her, but yeah.
 
What happened with this? It seemed like you were making incredible progress and you just hit a brick wall.
 
I was curious too but didn't say anything. I myself have been busy with assignments and terraria and stuff, if anyone was wondering why I haven't really posted anything since that region map...

I would like to suggest not making a region from scratch and instead basing it of another european country (or countries!)

Maybe:

-Spain and Portugal
-Germany and Denmark
-Poland, Czech, and Slovakia
-Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia
-Sweden, Norway and Finland

France seemed to be the only one big enough to be by itself (Spain and Germany are too, but their tiny nations nearby are not)
 
Sorry, I didn't notice you guys posted until now.

Yes, I guess it's on hold; no one but me was doing much work, as you can see, so I figured I'd just save here all I had done if I ever wanted to move them over to a personal fakemon thread.

I have no problem if you guys want to revive it, but I would like to see work from others, it gets boring when I'm the only one actually doing things, so I cut it before I looked like a crazy person talking to myself here.

Maybe I should change this to some "general fakemon design thread" or something? and just answer questions and offer critiques, since I was doing that anyway?
 
But we weren't going to do any of the region itself, nod; basing a region in some existing country is still making one from scratch, and if we make a region without making pokemon then... why make the region at all?

As I said, It's perfectly fine if someone wants to revive this, I'll contribute whenever I can, and I have no problem with keeping my pokemon here, after all we decided a lot of things together, but I don't want to take the reins to this if I'm the only one doing things. For that, I have my own thread now, where I can work at my own pace, and that's why I suggested the change.
 
I know, right? I even got my own place now.

If you want to keep working together, let me know, I even have some ideas for a bombardier beetle in the works.
 
I figured there wouldn't be any stopping until there were at least 70+ creations.
 
Well... you saw how it ended.

I'm setting my own goal on 70+... probably won't do half that number, but at least it's reasonable.
 
Actually no... I did read the thread from where I left off 4 months ago though.
