My boyfriend and I were talking about this card my brother has recently been using.

I haven't actually played my brother's deck yet, but my boyfriend thinks my brother is using the attack wrong.

So, could anyone explain plainly what the effect of Crush Claw means?

Here is what the attack says:

[F][F][C] Crush Claw 60
During your next turn, if an attack does damage to the Defending Pokemon (after applying Weakness and Resistance), that attack does 40 more damage.

To put it simply, during your next turn, if an attack does damage to the Defending Pokemon (after applying Weakness and Resistance), that attack does 40 more damage. What part about it needs to be clarified?

the effect of crush claw remains on the pokemon you attacked. If they retreat, evolve, level-up, de-evolve, the crush claw effect goes away. If Crush claw knocks out the pokemon, you do not get the damage benefit.
