Ruling Just started playing again and have a few questions.

Hello everyone,

Just found a box of about 1000 Pokemon cards in my closet and some how managed to get my girlfriend to try the game. She loves it! Anyway, its been at least 4-5 years since I've played and I have a few questions about the game. Some might be a little "newbish" and I apologize in advance.

1. This is in regards to Pokemon attacks that are (number)x. Example: Attack does 20x damage. Flip a coin 3 times. Attack does 20 damage times the number of heads.

If you get zero heads, the attack does zero damage correct? After all 20 times 0 is 0.

2. If a Pokemon uses an attack that says it is supposed to be switched with a benched Pokemon, and there are no benched Pokemon... what happens? Can the attack not be used? Does the attack happen as normal and we just ignore that part?

3. My last question is a random one. I don't understand how Rare Candy Trainer Cards work. Maybe I'm just not reading the description correctly, but if someone could break it down that would be great.

Thanks for your help!

1. Yes, 20X0 = 0

2. Do as much as you can in this case.
There may be some cards that say to switch a pokemon and the "new" one gets some sort of effect. If you can't switch, then the attack fails.

3. Rare candy lets you bypass normal evolution rules.

EXAMPLE.
Ralts evolves into Kirlia, and then into Gardevoir.

You can play Rare Candy on the Ralts, and it can evolve to Gardevoir bypassing Kirlia.
You can also play Rare Candy to evolve when the game would also prevent you from evolving (evolving right after you play the Pokemon)

If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask via the board, or by PM!
