General Jungle Predicted Alolan Exeggutor Two Decades Previously!

I just noticed that the artwork for booster boxes containing Japanese Jungle packs have artwork for ALOLAN EXEGGUTOR on them! Same long neck! They predicted it twenty years in advanced!
Anyone have anything to say on how this happened?

Legend has it that Alolan Exeggutor was the original Exeggutor design, but the game designers couldn't fit an Exeggutor with an outrageously long neck into a Gameboy sprite, and so the design had to be scrapped. Alolan Exeggutor was a genius way to repurpose the old design.

That makes sense! Alolan Exeggutor in 7th generation is a testimony to just how hard it is to fit those things on a small screen! They would never have managed with the Gameboy.
