Ok this is the first part of the Journey...you first have to pick your pokemon......You will then start yoru journey....battle rivals,challenge gym leaders,join contests, and more....But first you must pick your pokemon.....You get a starter,5pokeballs, and 500$.

Hmm, probably, he is unfamilliar with D/P pokemon. (Same here) Anyway, here's a link to the formula of calculating damage unless you don't want to calculate damage this way.
