Ruling Infernape's Flare Up attack. Question.

The Effect of Infernape Lv X's Flare Up attack states: "(This attack does nothing if you dont have 8 Fire energy cards in your discard pile.)"

So my question is, to use the attack, do I need EXACLTY 8 energy in the discard pile, or can I have more then 8 and still use the attack????
