Ive seen how strong gyarados is and maybe people should have counter measeures for gyarados in there most prized deck. Here are some stuff to help aginst a gyarados deck.

Tm Devoluter. Devoluter can devolve there pokemon and magikarps only hase thirty hp this is best attached to spiritomb from arceus so they cant use pokemon rescue when gyarados is knocked out.

Honchkrow from sv. This card can put a basic pokemon from your oppoents discard pile and put it on to the bench and this will make gyarados do less damage. This would be great with gengar prime.

Vioplume from ud. This can stop them from useing trainer cards if your running vile gar deck i would recomend putting in jarachi from unleashed to devolve gyarados.

Lucario gl with electric pokemon. Lucario gl gives each pokemon times two weakness and the electrick pokemon could easily knock gyarados out.

Mismagius from platnium. This isnt a very good one but mismaguis first attack does thirty damage then you choose one of your oppoents attacks and now they cant use that attack. But they could easily use the warp energy to get out of this.

Gengar prime. If you knock a pokemon with gengar prime that pokemon go's to the lost zone because of gengars prime poke body so they would have one less magikarps in there discard pile.

Unless you are playing some sort of Boomerang deck, Gengar Prime is not a good counter. It simply can't KO Gyarados by doing 40 a turn. Gengar Prime's first attack, however, could potentially put Magikarp into the Lost Zone early in the game, but Gyarados can run on 80 a turn.

^That doesn't sound like it'd work too well. You'd either have to get really good coin flips or be running lightning energy already, which would usually mean you have a lightning Pokémon to hit for weakness with already...

My brother runs odd decks. Ask Gliscor, mickcatron, mariocatron, SWD, or anyone else that has played him.

If your using Gengar Prime you HAVE to run it with TM-Devoluter. This is what I do, Drop 30-50 damgae on gyrados(Depending if its belted) Put TM-Devoluter on Gengar Prime then devolute, the karp gets sent to lost zone and you can repeat that strategy by using your other pokemon to put the damage. Your hindering them while getting cheap KO's.

honchkrow actually isnt as good of a gyarados counter at it as one would think
the gyarados player could just simply fill their bench as soon as they see it coming

the only thing it can really do is riot, but that will only kill if both sides have a bench full of unevolved pokemon (which gyarados is likely to have actually)
and its just asking to be revenge killed after that

true
forgot about that
but still, with the amount of seekers, ssus and junk arms in the average gyarados deck
theres a decent chance that they could have it discarded again before they attack

^It only works once. After that, they will just evolve the bench magicarp and do 60-80 to your active until it dies.

Gengar Prime can only be tech in a Gengar variant deck.

These are not techs. They are complete strategies to counter a Gyarados deck. I mean, just do a Vilegar deck with all those stuff.

Oh, and Lucario is known by any player who use Luxray GL. You don t need to say it.
