heyy guys sorry that you probably see a bit of this stuff here.
But yeah I have a wireless router. 4 computer/laptops can connect to it, iPod touch and iPhone can all connect as well.

My Ds used to be able to connect but not anymore. I think it's because of my WiFi being on WPE insted of WAP or what ever it is.
I am not allowed to switch over the wifi to WAP for security reasons.
Any ideas on how to fix this? And I searched for a USB connecter thing but couldn't find any in australia. Online is not an option.

So please help me

RE: Quick WiFi help

If you were able to connect your DS earlier on it shouldn't be too big a problem -- what error code(s) are you getting on the DS, usually that's an indication as to where the flaws are in your security setup. I'd note though that only the DSi models are compatible with WPA, so if you're using a DS lite or phat original style than you've got your problem right there, the most they can handle is WEP, a more basic protocol that's really not secure at all outside of utilizing a password.

RE: Quick WiFi help

DSi's only use WPA??? I was thinking about getting a DSi for searching the WEB and using a DSL to use Wi-Fi also. How would that work if I had gotten a DSi?:) Also I thought DSi's had WEP AND WPA configurations both. Anyway If you have more than what your router can handle connected your DS will not connect an you have to change the number of computer connections to more that the number that it is setup now. For Example: If you have it set for 6 computers and also your wirless stuff you have to increase it to a higher number if you can. If you can't then you have to wait until someone disconnects or buy a router that has a wider range on the items you and your family use. In this case turn off one of your devices so your DS can connect. If there is too manny connection than your router allows it will not connect until one of the lines has been disconnected.:)

RE: Quick WiFi help

^DSis can use both is what I meant like you said, you can still use an unsecured or regular WEP connection on them of course. In response to the issue of the number of connected devices, the DS shouldn't have any problems connecting to Nintendo WFC if there's downwards of 20 devices on your network for most routers, but whether or not it'll run smoothly is generally an issue of bandwidth and what those connected devices are specifically doing (so for example if you had seven computers downloading enormous media files, getting through a Pokémon battle online would most likely be a very stressful endeavor :p). And I didn't say earlier, but the first thing I usually do with Wi-Fi problems on the DS is just reset the respective router, half the time just doing that is the trick for whatever reason.

RE: Quick WiFi help

yeah it says it's the security settings aren't compatible.
And I believe it doesn't work now is because we got a new router with new settings so yeah :S.

And doesn't resetting the router erase the security settings my dad added? Like the password etc

RE: Quick WiFi help

Resetting a router regularly (using an on/off switch for example) shouldn't affect any settings you made on your computer, that's what I meant –- the "other" full-fledged reset is usually involves a tiny reset button on most routers that will restore the device to factory presets, but I don't think that'd do us any good in this situation due to the fact you'd have to reconfigure basically your entire setup on every connected machine (maybe as a last resort if it got that far...). Should've clarified, sorry... But what do you mean when you say the DS says the settings aren't compatible? Does it flat out refuse the connection, or does it try to connect and then comes up with an error code after failing?

RE: Quick WiFi help

If your dad changed the password then you have to change th password on your DSi for it to work and any other settings aswell XD.:)
