How To Counter Gyarados with Donphan Spped Deck

Now I think I'm going to play a t1 Donphan deck with Luxray GL for Bright Look. The only autoloss is Gyarados: how can I put in my deck to counter him?
Thanks!

You already play luxray g and i think that will be the best counter, since you already play it. But you might want to play 2-2 luxray g, 1 lucario gl and 1/2 crobat g. But only if you have the room for them.

Testing against Sp decks I conclused Reveral are better than Luxray. So, against Gyarados it's a real autoloss. Something not too slow to win against him?

What else do you play in your deck? You might want to try mesprit LA. You can power lock your opponent for 8+ turns (if you and 4 ssu, 2 to 4 seeker, 3 or 4 mesprit). If you manage to slow the gyarados player down with power lock you might get a speed advantage.

1-2 Mesprit and 2-3 Giratina PL helps slow down Gyarados a few turns. Running a nice amount of Seeker and SSU helps too. However, once they do get the Karp in the discard with Junk Arm, it's all over.

i think that a best tech against gyarados is the technical maschine devoluter , you just makefrom that gyarados a magikarp which would be demaged and with its 30 hp it should be KO´d

Which would be quite difficult to search out, and just detracts from consistency.

They still 1HKO you while you 2HKO so you still lose.

You can run a 1-1-1 Exploud line to get rid of your water weakness.

Also if you are running Donphan you may also be using Manetric. If so throw in a dce so you could do his 40 damage attack.

All this will only help you minimally at best and will slow you down.

I run this exact setup in one of my decks and it is very hard to beat a Gyarados deck. With his fighting resistance and high HP it is almost impossible to beat him.

ERL definently no doubt. It can net you 4-5 prizes in one turn if you time it right(and that is not very hard). I also recommend some Mesprit and Hunter to stop them from using set-up and regimove. If you use this, I could definently see you top cutting a city.

Hey there. I was able to Top-Cut Ohio cities three weeks ago with a Donphan deck. I played two Gyarados decks and was able to beat them both out.

I ran Honchcrow SV to counter the Gyarados and put those discarded Magi's on the bench. As long as they dont have a seeker/ssu then gyarados will only hit the honchcrow for 60 damage. Continue this until Honchy is dead and hopefully you slowed down the attack power. (You're going to want to run judge if you plan on using Honchy to minimize their hand). Even after this, it might be tough to take on the Gyarados but hopefully you outpower it!

I lost the first TopCut battle to a DialgaChomp :(. Now I'm going to run an extra judge to hopefully do better... Hope I helped!
