Well, I'll say, it's about time that a thread about this controversy between which supporter search out is the best- Pokegear 3.0 or the newly released Random Receiver. Here are what each do just in case you don't know:
Random Receiver- Reveal cards from the top of your deck until you reveal a Supporter card. Put it into your hand. Shuffle the other cards back into your deck. Trainer
Pros:
Never fails.
Is junk armable.
Gets a supporter.
Cons:
Reveals deck to opponent.
No choice of what Supporter you are getting.
Doesn't work under trainer lock
Pokegear 3.0- Look at the top 7 cards of your deck. Choose a Supporter card you find there, show it to your opponent, and put it into your hand. Shuffle the other cards back into your deck. Trainer
Pros:
A choice of supporter
junk armable
Searches for supporter w/o revealing cards
Cons:
Can fail
Doesn't work under trainer lock
Right now, the obvious choice looks like Random Reciever, simply because it doesn't fail. However, is it really the better choice? I favor Pokegear 3.0, but I really think the choice is based on your play style. I like Pokegear 3.0 because it gives you a choice w/o revealing certain cards in you deck. If you have a secret tech, it could be possibly revealed. Is there a rule against writing down the cards in your opponents deck? I'm not sure, but I doubt it, seeing you are able to write down their discard, hand, and your prizes.
However, Random Receiver never fails. You need a supporter late game. You use Random Receiver and get a Professor Oak's New Theory in the first 10 cards, and you draw into a great or better hand. Like N, Random Receiver may give you a higher chance of getting a supporter, but not the one you want.
What do you guys think? Answer the poll, and lets find out which is better!
(Note: There is another supporter search card, which is XTranciever. It is like Pokegear 3.0, except instead requires a flip instead of looking at the top 7 and you search you deck for any supporter you want. I did not mention because it is not played often, and Random Receiver and Pokegear 3.0 are better.)
