if a pokemon did a hit and run attack into great gengar and knocks out a pokemon with rescue energy on it. would it go back to hand or lostzone

Rescue Energy
Special Energy

This card provides 1 unit of Colorless Energy.

If the Pokemon this card is attached to is Knocked Out by damage from an attack, return that Pokemon to your hand. (All cards other than Pokemon cards are discarded.)

Poke-Body: Catastrophe
As long as this Pokemon is your Active Pokemon, if an opponent’s Pokemon is Knocked Out, that Pokemon is placed in the Lost Zone. (All cards other than Pokemon cards are discarded.)

Please note that since Gengar Prime has not been released in English (nor has Rescue Energy), we can only speculate on what the ruling will be. I have covered my thoughts on this in a previous post - http://www.pokebeach.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=86273 - but I will briefly re-iterate here.

Firstly, Gengar Prime on its own does not actually do attack damage. Its second attack places damage counters, which is different. Rescue Energy saves Pokémon that are knocked out by attack damage. Therefore, I do not feel it protects against Gengar Prime's "Cursed Drop" attack. If you Level'd it up and used the LV. X "Compound Pain" attack for the knock out, I feel it *would* bring the defending Pokémon back to its owner's hand, since the wording on Rescue Energy does not seem to imply a dependency upon the destination of the KO'd Pokémon (lost zone vs. discard).
