Why does Ash catch the grass stater in every new generation? Just think about it He has Bulbasaur, Chikorita, Treecko and Naetoru.

Yes but how would that apply to ash when he had bulbasaur? I suppose in kanto there is blaine's gym. May had torchic and shinji has that new fire one, but gary had a squirtle.
