Ruling General Card Question.

I have a a simple request/question. Is there a list of the abbreviation people use here? Such as RR, GL, GE, etc. I would like to know all of these so that I can become more familiar with peoples conversations. Also, I'm new to this new generation of Pokemon cards. Why do the LV. X and such matter? All my Pokemon cards are from like The First Generation. Lol, I have like the Original Pikachu and Mr.Mime(hollo) and stuff.... LOL Could you guys please get me up to date with this stuff? Thanks! =)
