(Garchomp, Haxorus, Altaria) Dragon

Another deck idea of mine, it's a slight modification of the Garchomp & Altaria idea.
Though I added in Haxorus due to it being so great in the Pokemon games.

Again a sorta fun deck that could be somewhat competitive.

Update: So with the advent of Plasma Blast (and trading), here is my new version.
Which is now Next Destinies & up.

Pokemon:
  • 3 Swablu (Sing/Peck)
  • 3 Altaria (Fight Song/Glide)
  • 3 Axew (Strong Bond/Dragon Claw)
  • 3 Fraxure (Paralyzing Gaze/Dragon Claw)
  • 3 Haxorus (Dragonaxe/SOTC) SOTC=Strike of the Champion
  • 3 Gible (Sand Attack/Knock Away)
  • 3 Gabite (Dragon Call/Dragonslice)
  • 3 Garchomp (Mach Cut/Dragonblade) (1 proxy)
Trainers:
  • 3 Iris
  • 3 Cheren
  • 3 Bianca (1 full art)
  • 3 N
  • 3 Ultra Ball
  • 3 Level Ball (1 proxy)
Energy:
  • 5 Metal
  • 5 Water
  • 5 Fighting
  • 3 Blend WLFM
Strategy: Get either Haxorus or Garchomp out with at least one Altaria.
Haxorus is kinda an anti-Lugia idea since they don't expect you to knock it out.

Update: Pretty similar strategy as before.
Only difference is if they play Team Plasma Haxorus would be the main, for other Pokemon Garchomp is the main.
The metal is for the Promo Haxorus & Altaria (just in case).

Feel free to suggest stuff, but as with the other decks I make, this has pretty much all of the best cards I have currently.

I've taken the liberty to update your OP with the decklist you had below, and updating it to the proper format while I was at it! :D ~Kecleon

RE: (Garchomp, Haxorus, Altaria) Dragon Deck

Played this against a Keldeo/Blastoise deck.

For some odd reason nothing good showed up until it was to late.
Though my lone Gible somehow survived 3 turns using Sand Attack.

So I altered it slightly.

Took out the Professor Juniper, and put in Cheren.
Took out Rare Candy & Computer Search, and put in Pokemon Communication.
Also changed one of the Swablu to the Swablu with just Peck.
Since it kinda matched the "theme" of 2 of a card & 1 of the other.

Still need to get 2 Level & Ultra Balls to make it better.
If those help then I might put back in 3 Rare Candy.

RE: (Garchomp, Haxorus, Altaria) Dragon Deck

Garchomp Altaria is a great deck. that being said one of the most important things this deck needs is consistency. I would suggest running all of your pokemon with the same name as the same card. For example, instead of 2 mach cut Garchomp and one jet-headbutt Garchomp, run 3 mach cut and no jet-headbutt. You could also consider running a bulkier line of Garchomp and a smaller line of Haxorus. I would prefer to run 4 blend energy and 4 rare candy, these are really important in this deck. Five water energy is just too many I wouldn't run more than one at most. Metal energy is also extremely unnecessary. If you're running dragon vault Haxorus then I would consider running Double Colorless Energy as you will most likely never get a chance to use Haxorus' second attack. I know it's probably annoying to hear the word Catcher over and over again but if you can get your hands on them, run as many as you can.

RE: (Garchomp, Haxorus, Altaria) Dragon Deck

Well despite buying several boosters of Dragons Exhalted I don't have any other Mach Cut Garchomps.
I do have several Jef Headbutt ones...

Like I said the Metal is there just in case Altaria gets dragged out (it also takes Water).

Hammers are kinda popular in the area, so I tried limiting the Special Energies.

I will play it a few times like it is, then most likely go back to the Gible with Sand Attack & maybe go with the Axew/Haxorus stuff coming later (which does use Metal to good use).

I could run Escape Rope as a pseudo Catcher (I don't really think Catcher is worth what they charge for it, no matter how useful it is).

I did ask around at league for more Trainers & got a Skyla.
Somebody suggested I do that to fill in the gaps in my trainer selections.

I did have the Rare Candy in the deck, but somehow both of them were in the prizes.
Not like I was drawing anything to use them on anyways during that game.

I do have this deck on TCGO, and it does have 3 of the Mach Cut Garchomp.
It's not too shabby as far as winning either something like 34 wins out of 54 times playing it.
Most of which were actual people & not the computer (though a few did concede or get dropped due to time lag).

RE: (Garchomp, Haxorus, Altaria) Dragon Deck

I would honestly run either Garchomp or Haxorus, not both. Maybe Garchomp with a tech 2-0-2 line of Haxorus. If you really want to run Haxorus, then I might leave in a 2-2 Gabite line to search out Haxorus and Altaria, but it would be much more efficient if it was focused on Garchomp.

RE: (Garchomp, Haxorus, Altaria) Dragon Deck

I play a different attacker other than altaria....I use flygon with sand slammer. It gives a option to paraylize and does 10 damage to all opponents pokemon when active

Thank you for this I had the same idea but didn't know if it would be a good idea to add an ex like cobalian or groudon? Course I would have to get either of these. I am running a variation of Dragon Speed with Garchomp and Walrein right now and am looking to make it a pure ice deck but still wanted to use Garchomp and since I had an Altaria and Haxorus line lying around I figured why not.

That sounds interesting, not sure how many people would think of an ice themed idea.

That is exactly what this game needs more of, people with fun ideas that break the "netdeck" chain.

Yes, I could have done just GarTaria, but then it wouldn't be my idea.
It would be somebody elses idea.

Yes I am borrowing part of the idea, but it's not the same as just copying the exact same ideas.

As someone who plays this game more for fun than to win, I would love to see more people play with fun decks.

You can have an original deck and it still be good; the two don't conflict.
