Gamer's Lament

The Play station forgotten, The PS2 defeated by its newer version, the PS3. The Gameboy forgotten, the Gameboy color, replaced by the GBA, and the GBA half forgotten, also being replaced by the nintendo DS. The Xbox 360, the PS3, and the Wii. How far can we go? Will there be an end to these advances in game technology?

Is this some sort of philiosophisical talk? I really don't get why this is here.

Anyway, we "forget" them, because they offer no supioriority over their upgrades. Apart from finacial reasons. If you can afford one, why buy an inferior item at a lesser price?

As technology gets better there is more demand for newer systems and that is why some systems are not continued as long. Look at the NES. It was the longest system used before the SNES was made and that was used for a long time before N64 and that was used before gamecube and the Wii is being used now because theese systems are out of date and now that they have the technology they no longer need the systems except for some games the do not list on the Wii.:)

Backwards compatibility ftw

Any game worth playing can be played on the newer system. I still use my GBASP to play GB games that my DS can't play like Super Mario Land and Tetris. The PS2 is 100% backwards compatible, I don't know if PS3 fully supports PS games. The Wii is 100% compatible with GCN games, and as we all know has the always-increasing library of older titles.

If you don't have the money for a new system, save until you do. Don't settle for less. Unless you're playing GB games and need a GBA/SP instead of a DS, save the money, get the good stuff.

And buy the DS later. ;)
