Game Corner Suggestion.

Lots of games have been locked recently because they break rules.

Also, lots of spammy posts have also appeared and thread rules have been broken.

I suggest that we have Game Corner mods to take care of the Game Corner and approve or dissaprove threads. The mods have better things to do than respond to complaints about the Game Corner.

I think this would bring down the level of spam there greatly.

I think Zyflair used to moderate the Game Corner... but ever since she became a real mod she hasn't really been the initial moderator.

We could just click the report button as another option. Mods are usually found in the Game Corner as well, so yeah.

Yeah, but what I mean are mods who only do the Game Corner to stop the normal mods from wasting their time modding the Game Corner

Why have Mods when you can simply press the report button have the Mods and Super Mods take care of it?

I'm the only one that you would consider "wasting" my time, but I don't see it like that. We don't need Mods to take care of one Forum that's a lot of spam anyway when I don't mind doing things in there. That new combined thread should lessen the amount of spam posts in the Forum as a whole regardless.

Personally, I think the Game Corner should be shut down completely only showing about 3-5 games that are major. Still, we are all aware of spam, we could just report this to a moderator. Thus way, it does not take the time away for the mods to moderate in another section. I think each mod should be located to a section of the beach, like the J-Mod trial test. This way, the mods have less to moderate, more free time on the beach and we would possibly have less spam.

It is hard to assign 1-2 people to something and hope that takes care of it. All of the mods can deal with reports. If you have a concern about something you see, the report button is the best way to go. A mod will see your report and look into it.

That's relying too much on everyone and if you can't see that that doesn't work out that well, you'd see it eventually.

I don't think the Game Corner isn't all that bad now that single threads are combined. I mean, of course it's mostly spam, but what are you going to do? :F

To be honest I haven't seen that much spammy posts in the GC. Just posts intended for that thread. We also shouldn't assign people to work in the game corner, as bad games will naturally die, and good ones will stay active. We all have the right to make our ideas, so only allowing certain members to make games would be inappropriate as well. The few completely random and spammy posts can be reported. I don't think any of us have had any real cumbersome experiences with the game corner. It's intended to be a casual place to play games and have fun. Kinda like a bar without the alcohol and chi...nvmd. I think over-thinking the game corner will ruin the whole purpose. We already have a rule against random games, so there shouldn't be too many problems.

I don't think we need any extra moderating period. We have enough moderators right now that we need, and none of the forums I go to (which includes the Game Corner) seem out of whack right now.

The whole purpose of the Game Corner is to let people have a bit more fun on the forums, and be a little bit more loose with the "no spam" rule. While too much spam is a problem, I don't see the spam level reaching this height. In fact, the spam level now is quite a bit lower that it used to be. You should have seen the "Make a Story" and "Ban-a-member" games for real spam.

We don't need approvals of threads, either. Bad games die/get locked, good games live on for months, even years. There is absolutely no problem with the way the system works now. Again, it's been a lot worse in the past than it is now. There is also a sticky the states that no "spammy games" (ones that you can respond with virtually anything (see the Ban game for a example)) will be allowed. Ever since that, the games in the Game Corner have been fine for the most part.

We really don't need any more control on the Game Corner forum, and it does not need to be deleted, as one member said in an earlier post. tbh, I think this thread may just be asking for more moderators so that some members would "have a shot" of becoming one.

^ May I agree 200% on your claim?

The Game Corner is a hub for getting away from rules (such as spam) that apply in more serious topics. I loved the Ban Game, because even though you guys think it may be spam, I thought it was just a fun way of "playing mod" for a post. What's the point of a Game Corner if you can't have fun under these regulations? I don't care who the mod is, but I think only one is necessary. He/She should simply oversee the threads making sure inappropriate material isn't posted. That's it. The Game Corner isn't TCG Discussion, and is meant to be enjoyable, IMHO.

I really liked the ban game too, but I think that members should come up with an actual reason. I don't think there should have been posts that say banned because I feel like it or something to that effect.

Moderating staff simply for the Game Corner is a bad idea. If a forum generates too many problems, then it is better to revise that forums policy and rules first rather than hire additional staff.

I agree with this definition of the Game Corner, it is essentially a branch of the forums where the rules are a lot more lax.

I would like to suggest that the Game Corner be expanded into a place not just for games, but for casual and random threads in general. If you are going to have a forum without a post count, I see no reason as to why you would restrict it to games only. Two benefits of this expansion would be:

1) It takes the pressure off of the Misc forum, which currently accomodates both serious threads (such as political/philosophical debates) and silly threads (such as the "How to pick up chicks" guide).

2) We simply need a place for the casual side of Pokebeach to grow. It's healthy for a community to have a more relaxed side. Pokebeach chat and Chillax Zone are currently the only two places for this (the former has been declining in activity lately, the latter can only really house one topic at a time due to being a single thread).

I will further agree with bacon on the Game Corner suggestion. If anything, we should be looking to expand the more "casual" side of PokeBeach. We only have one thread for "casual" discussion, The Chillax Zone, and even that has become a bit more serious now than it used to be. It's hard to just go in a random direction in that thread.

Perhaps make a new forum called "PokeBeach Plaza" or something similar? This new forum can house games and just random discussion threads. Most other forums have something similar to this, and they don't really go out-of-control, so to speak. Now that I am not so active in the Pokemon-based forums, I would love to see an extra place for us casual members.

I fully support this new suggestion. Or at the very least, get it a shot and see if it works perfectly or is just a spam-fest. (However, I will state once again that the main purpose of the current game corner is to let people get a bit more spammy without any repercussions.)

As I said, to stop mods wasting time sorting out the Game Corner.

I just saw this post. The mods are not "wasting" any time in the Game Corner. As stated by myself and a few other members, there is no major problems with the Game Corner, and hardly any problems at all. It is not going to kill a mod to deal with the one or two spammy posts that crop up.

(Random off topic note: I didn't mind the Ban game much, but it was one of the more spammier games, especially in its later days.)

Let's put it this way: If we're fed up with the Game Corner, we'd:
- Close the Game Corner
or
- Employ some poor bloke lucky person to do the dirty work for us help us on it.
We didn't, so we're fine with it.

The posts don't count tward your post count but we should give warnings to those that constantly spam or the spammers will think they can do it there and get away with it. However they will post in regular areas normally and not get caught. D master is in there alot so he could moderate the game corner.:)

Zyflair's male.

For all the suggestions about a new forum/changing the Game Corner's role, don't we already have the Chillax Zone?

Noobnerd: As bacon pointed out earlier, the Chillax Zone can only have one topic at a time, and randomly changing the subject in there is now considered spam. Even then, the Chillax Zone isn't quite all too "relaxed" anymore...
