No, you may not (unless you've got a means of locking bodies). Unless in play, fossils are considered to be only Trainer cards, and as such are blocked from being played by Spiritomb and Vileplume. Note that these bodies would not prevent you from placing a fossil on your bench by virtue of something like Kabuto MD's "Ancient Guidance" Poké-POWER; in this case fossils are played from your deck to your bench, not from your hand to your bench.
