FLASH FREEZE

Chapter 1
Stars and planets shot by as the small spacecraft hurtled through space.
*SNAP*
EmRB took another picture of the spectacular scene. Xmillsa stared out the window with depressed and tired eyes, taking in the amazing view.
"We could have saved them, there had to have been some way..." Her eyes began to water, not for the first time since they had begun their journey.
"It wouldn't have worked out *tch* economically." Responded EmRB.
"Economically? Economically! Are you insane?! The entire universe is tearing itself apart, screw economics!"
"Well, that, and *tch* nobody believed us anyway."
*SNAP*
...That was true, nobody had believed them, and the few who did didn't believe there was any real way to escape the crisis besides drugs and suicide.
*sigh*
Xmillsa continued staring outside the window. Everything was exploding into bright lights and sharp colors, before dissipating into nothingness. It was beautiful and terrifying.
"... Thank you. Thank you for saving me." She said to the robot, knowing that his actions hadn't been of compassion or even free will, but simply the programming of its mysterious designer. She was grateful anyway.
"N-P *tch* buddy."
*SNAP*
The ship hurtled on, pursued by an infinite sea of blackness.

The door to the dark laboratory was silently pushed open. A few seconds later, a computer began to hum, having been turned on, and the room was partially illuminated with a soft white glow. After a few seconds of work, the computer shut off and the room was once again plunged into shadows and silence. The door was carefully closed.
