If you didn't already know, FFXIV is set for a september 30th 2010 release.
Instead of a RPG like FFXIII, FFXIV will be a MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game; along those lines at least)
My brother and I plan to buy the game and try it out. He spent 2-3 years on FFXI, (The first Final Fantasy MMORPG) so he should be able to mentor me with the controls and just the overall mechanics of the game.
In the meantime we plan to play FFXI.
Do you plan on preordering the game? If so are you going to get just the original version, or the collector's version. (comes with some extra swag, not sure exactly what)

Before I forget to mention, the game will be released on PC 9/30/10 and sometime in march for PS3. Square Enix said that they won't be releasing on xbox 360 or xbox live, as they believe xbox live to be a closed environment.
 
Lol in FF11 they give you a warning that you should not neglect your real life to play this game. Also when I bought it the store clerk said one of his buddys lost his job, wife, friends over that game. After playing it for a couple days and realizing just how much of your time it will consume, I just left it to rot on my shelf. Don't bother playing it.....YOU WONT HAVE TIME FOR POKEMON!!!!
 
I kind of hate pay to play games, but I'm a loyal Final Fantasy fan. However, I'll probably not buy this game, especially because of the fact that you have to pay more for multiple characters. Don't we have enough to pay for?

I like the screen shots, though. It's probably the best looking mmorpg up until now.
 
Final Fantasy I-X - Great games, everyone should play them through once.
Final Fantasy XI - We need to attract fe-male audiences
Final Fantasy XII - Grind for levels....grind for levels....steall... fail... steal... fail...steal - potion
Final Fantasy XIII - It's all a tutorial up until the last part
Final Fantasy XIV - Anyone who thinks this will be half as good as 11 is wrong.

Don't get me wrong, I love FF's, but if it's online it isn't going to be good. Period.
The thing that made the early FF's so good was gameplay and story. None of the latest games has any of this.
Can it go online? - Yes
Does it look good? - Yes

I am fairly new to the franchise (Bought FFXiii over labor day weekend).And I was hooked on it almost immediately.An online mmorpg sounds fun and hopefully far better then ffxi which is apparently far worse than it's newer companion.
 
Hopefully this will be better than the last Final Fantasy game, I read Spoony's review on Final Fantasy 13 and it wasn't pretty.
