Farfetch’d from “Pokemon Card 151!”

Farfetch’d has just been revealed from Pokemon Card 151! The set will release in Japan on June 16th. It will then release internationally as a special set this fall.

Crazy to think how much of a monster this would be if it was in the first base set.

At least you could cook a good meal with this card. But farfetch'd seems to have left its apron in the nest.

Both these attacks are brand new. It's rather interesting that a set that many would accuse of being a nostalgia-pandering cash-in doesn't appear to have any deliberate call-backs/references to the TCG's history. The most egregious example, to me, would be Vileplume not having any variation of its signature Trainer-lock Powers, but even something as simple as a card like this Farfetch'd are declining to have any continuity nods.

It feels like a deliberate choice. Pretty neat.

If we had sirfetch'd this might have had a purpose, but this is impressively bad.

Cyclizar SVI has more life, the same draw 2 attack for the same cost, and free retreat. Without a good Sirfetch'd, I unfortunately don't see a reason to use this card.

The art is pretty awesome though, I like it a lot.
