Fainting spell: Once during your opponents turn, if Gengar would be Knocked Out by damage from an attack, you may flip a coin. If heads, the defending Pokemon is Knocked Out.

1. If you activate the Fainting Spell PokePower and flip heads, is Gengar still Knocked Out?

2. If Gengar would be Knocked Out by Shuppet's Fade Out attack and you flip heads for Fainting Spell is Shuppet Knocked Out, or does it avoid the effect and return to the players hand?

1) Yes, Gengar is knocked out even if you flip a heads on fainting spell

2) Yes Gengar will knock out shuppet because you apply fainting spell IMMEDIATELY when gengar has enough damage to be knocked out.
(Don't take my word, but I read in an official FAQ one time that FS is activated before other effects of the attacking pokes are applied.)

This is true.

2) Yes Gengar will knock out shuppet because you apply fainting spell IMMEDIATELY when gengar has enough damage to be knocked out.

This is false. Gengar "would be knocked out" when you check for KOs. This occurs AFTER all effects of the attack. Shuppet, Uxie, and any other Pokemon that is removed from play as part of it's attack is not affected by Fainting Spell.

Craig III is right in his corrections. Please do not post an answer unless you are absolutely sure of it, to avoid false answers.

This is why I was confused. It was about expert belt vs cessation crystal. ctrl + f fainting spell and it's the second one, in the big paragraph. Sorry for the incorrect answer. It won't happen again.

(Not trying to spam, I just figured I would post so it would be cleared up for the asker.)

I had the same ? About that because I run a shuppet deck and faced a gengar/lockdown deck and there was a proffesor there and his ruling was the fainting spell doesn't work because there is no target for fs same goes with crobat g flashbite

Which is correct. Whenever Gengar is knocked out by an attack that returns the Pokémon in question to the hand (Shuppet PT, Starmie LA) or to the deck (Uxie LA), then Fainting Spell doesn't work.
Crobat G's Flash Bite is a power and therefore does not trigger Fainting Spell.
