I wish Ice Espeon would become less mathy.

Hmmm... I've been thinking about how to do this for a while and then I realised something. I can't.

The burning desire for mathematical satisfaction has been welling up in me since the day Teal's game ended, threatening to burst through my skull and create an explosion over 9000 times more powerful than a YPPY grenade that a mysterious Espeon set off a while ago. However, I have found a solution:

Countdown: Numbers.

How to play:

There are two different types of number: large and small. In the game there are one of each large number and two of each small number. Therefore, the numbers available in the game are:

Large:

25 x1
50 x1
75 x1
100 x1

Small

1 x2
2 x2
3 x2
4 x2
5 x2
6 x2
7 x2
8 x2
9 x2
10 x2

You have to choose 6 numbers: a maximum of 4 large and a maximum of 6 small numbers.

You could have:

2S 4L
3S 3L
4S 2L
5S 1L
6S 0L

(where S is small and L is large)

A three digit target (which is always a positive whole number) is then chosen at random, which the next poster has to reach by using the six numbers no more than once (they can be left unused) and the symbols x + - ÷ (no ^). Feel free to show more working out if you want.

Examples:

Easy said:
100-25-3-8-1-10
Target: 301

100 x 3 + 1 = 301
More Advanced said:
25-50-8-8-5-10
Target: 622

25 - 8 = 13
13 + 50 = 63
63 x 10 = 630
630 - 8 = 622

As you can see at the end of that video, in the real version of Countdown if contestants cannot get to the target they try and get as close to it as they can. Therefore, for getting the exact target you get 3 points and for getting within 3 either side of the target (3 above or 3 below) you get 1 point. Getting 150 points allows you to enter the hall of fame.

When choosing your numbers, please ensure that it is possible to reach the target exactly. Not doing so will make me think that you are trying to give yourself an advantage over other people by giving them impossible sums to go and solve. An easy way to get numbers and targets that are guaranteed to work (at least, I haven't seen any that don't) is to use this website. I am aware that you can use that website (and others) to solve problems, but please refrain from doing so, as it will undoubtedly decrease the satisfaction of reaching 50 points. It is a good idea to keep track of your points within your posts, to save you having to go back and count when you think you are close.

(BTW, this is a YPPY game, meaining you have to wait for two people to post before you can post again)

Hall of Fame:

To kick things off, I'm going to go with 3 large and 3 small:
100-75-50-6-8-5
Target: 354

RE: Countdown [YPPY]

2014y+11m+17d - 2014y+10m+13d = 35d, which is how long this game is open for! It will end on November the 17th.

8*(75-25-5)-6=354

Target: 492
Numbers: 25 - 75 - 50 - 2 - 9 - 5

But that's wrong, Drohn. You can't use a number more than once, as per the rules. For Drohn's puzzle, (50*9)+(75/5)+25+2=492.

Three Bigs and Three smalls.
Target: 671
50, 25, 100, 9, 2, 6

I thought
Large:

25 x1
50 x1
75 x1
100 x1

Small

1 x2
2 x2
3 x2
4 x2
5 x2
6 x2
7 x2
8 x2
9 x2
meant we could use smaller numbers twice and bigger numbers once, but now I get that means we can put in the number twice rather than using it twice. Your solution to the first is also incorrect; it leads to 389. I'll try to come up with another solution.

...I'll assume that I can do CB's puzzle now so I shall.

(100-9)*6 + (50*2) + 25 = 671

100-75-25-8-7-1 Target: 240

(3 pts)

(25-1)x(100-75-8-7) =240

3pts

Forgot to say that 10 is a small number. Fixed now.

1-6-7-8-10-1
Target: 288

Phew, did it. Took me long enough, though:

25+5=30
30*9=270
270-7-7-2=254

10-1-5-3-8-8
Target: 839

IT'S FINALY OVER I DID IT!

(8+3)x10=110
110-5=105
105x8=840
840-1=839

It seems so easy now ;-;

I've changed the amount of points required to get into the Hall of Fame to 50 since this is harder than Teal's game.

Points: 6

100-25-3-1-10-4
Target: 258

(yes they sometimes are this easy ;p)

(100*10)=1000
1000/4=250

25-1=24
24/3=8
250+8=258
(Score:6)

TARGET: 634
5_6_6_4_1_9

EDIT: My bad guys. I screwed up copying the Target.

Well, this game died pretty fast. :\ And now I'm here to close it. If you want to discuss it, use the Forum Games General Discussion thread.

Cobalt's equation is actually impossible, according to Ice Espeon (who knows math stuff, so I'm inclined to trust him on this one), so I don't really feel bad about not posting in here. Yay. :D
