Lots of cool things going on in Community Works lately...

Contest Winners: Let's give a hearty congratulations to forum member [member]Empoleafeon[/member] for winning the Haiku & Short-Poem Contest VIII! The winning entry can be found below...

A bright golden hue
Echoed words of thanks and love
Light and smiles shining.

Great work, Empoleafeon. Your haiku truly captures the feelings we all experience during Thanksgiving!

Art Contests: In Lilycove, [smod]CMP[/smod]'s Art of the Week #8 is entering its final days! The theme is collaborations, so find yourself a partner (or PM [smod]CMP[/smod] to help you find one)! Submissions should be PM'd to [smod]CMP[/smod] by this coming Wednesday, December 7th.

Signups for Pokemon Fan Art of the Week #1 also continue through Wednesday. For this inaugural competition, you must submit a Pokemon team of six (any of your choosing) in any kind of medium, and you must PM your entry to [smod]CMP[/smod] with the title "FAotW #1" (rather than posting it). You are limited to one entry, so choose wisely. After a community vote, the winning entry will make its way to the Forum Portal for all members to see!

Fake Card Contests: Round 2 of the popular Create-a-Card Competition has finally arrived! [smod]CMP[/smod] will once again be judging this contest with the help of forum member [member]Peachy[/member]. The competition thread can be found here. Changes this round include a limitation in submission from 2 in each category (text-based fakes and image-based fakes) to just one per category. The theme this round is Winter, and submissions are due Wednesday, December 21st!

Writing Contests: In the Writer's Corner, the ninth round of forum moderator [mod]Apollo the Incinermyn[/mod]'s Haiku & Short-Poem Contest are now starting. The potential theme for this round is Winter, very fitting for this time of year! If you have poetic talent, make sure to enter by posting your entry in the thread or PMing your entry to [mod]Apollo the Incinermyn[/mod]!

Additionally, Round Robin II continue with 6 spots still remaining. To compete, participants are to write passages between 500 to 1,000 words in length that continue the storyline by the winning piece from the last round (shown above); passages should be PM'ed to [mod]Apollo the Incinermyn[/mod].

I encourage each and every one of you to participate in these contests. Even if you're on PokéBeach for the TCG or VG, try your hand at an art-based competition! At the very least, though, why not at least vote and critique members' work? Tell them what you liked (or didn't like) -- no one can get better without it!

Upcoming projects/contests include the return of the "Design the _____-type" contest, round #7 of [mod]safariblade[/mod]'s Fake Contest, and a few more surprises. Got an idea for something cool? Let me know!

Just something to take note of...
As some of you may or may not be aware, the old Slateport Market has been closed for about two months now. For those who need to request art (be it banners, sprites, avatars, etc.), please check out the Art Request Thread. We have some talented members who are willing to help you out, so don't let their skills go to waste!

Additionally, a question...
As the return of the "Design the _____-type" contest approaches, is there a specific type you'd like to see turned into TCG form? Ever wished Poison would finally be its own type so as to avoid the Grass vs Psychic debate? And let's face it, Ground and Rock are completely different than Fighting! Let me know which types you want to see in the contest first. Details about the contest will be released when a type is determined.
