ok, so at first the energy count will seem very high to most of you, but that's just cuz you are often shooting for a 3 energy attack and would often need to attach an energy every turn. missing a drop is worse than you think when you're facing a deck that runs 4 lost removers, 4 crushing hammers, and 4 junk arms since the only single energy attacker is Donphan, and that will hurt you if you don't have eviolites on your bench.
the only starter you really don't want to start with are the shaymins. luckily, their retreat cost is only 1, and you can even burn a switch early on to junk arm for later, and save the energy drop for something like double draw on Virizion.
the goal is to get Cobalion stalling with 4 sp metals and an eviolite. making them have to dish out a massive 180 to OHKO you.
the downside, no recovery cards, and the only healing is through shaymin. yes, Shaymin has an attack. and it's surprisingly effective VS Kyurem. you hit them for 30 and heal 30 off of all of your pokemon, they hit you for 30 spread. repeat as needed. and you will eventually force them to outrage your shaymin and you can then revenge KO it with anything you have setup over the 2-5 turns that got wasted.
Kyurem is also a beast against mewtwo, since you'll be nerfing them by 80 damage if you're fully loaded, then you can either iron breaker to make them waste resources retreating, or energy press them for a KO if it's within reach.
shaymin drops are crucial, there is no SSU or Seeker in this list, so once it's down, it'll either be a KO target, or your means to heal once you've moved the energy where you want it.
