Ruling Changing the Order of Prize Cards

When you use an effect like Time Walk (Azelf's PokePower, lets you look at your prize cards), can you-
[A] Change the order of your prize cards? Ie, putting the Prize Card you will want to take next at the front.
Can your opponent rearrange the order of your prize cards after you put them in order?

I ask because I know you can rearrange the order of your hand whenever you want, so I'm not sure if this applies to prize cards.

Kind of a gray area -- there's probably nothing in the rules about any of that. I'll give my opinion, though.

For A, the prize zone isn't ordered (like the deck), so you can arrange it however you want.

For B, there's no rule that allows your opponent to rearrange your prizes at will. He can request a count, but since they're not public information, he shouldn't be able to touch them.

Well, of course you can choose which order you want to pick your prizes, but your opponent could mess up the order so that you can't get the prize that you want.

Since Azelf has been released in Japan (right?), isn't it possible to find the answer there?

I'll ask my local TO/League Organizer on there feelings, so that I don't get a suprise ruling or anything.

correct me if I'm wrong but can't you take ANY prize card you want when you knockout a pokemon? So it doesn't matter if your opponent rearranges your prize cards because he/she does not know what they are. That's IF they can rearrange them, which I don't think they can. The only way your opponent can mess with your prizes is Mawile (SW i think) that lets you flip your opponents prizes.

What I mean is that lets say that you see a prized Claydol with Time Walk and for some reason choose not to take it with Time Walk. You would then put that Claydol (face down) and then put your prizes in a way that you would remember what card is where (ie, put Claydol on the top right hand corner), so that way you would know where the claydol is. But, now that you have ordered your prize cards is a certain way, what I want to know is that can your opponent rearrange it so that you know don't know where the Claydol is, only that you have a Claydol.

I guess what I'm asking is, can your opponent play the Shell Game with you?

If I'm the judge, I say no. There's nothing in the game that allows the opponent to touch them in any way. (Even if they play a card like Mawile, you do the actual prize flipping.)

ya, I would agree with you Kaga. The only thing an opponent is allowed to handle is your discard pile, and face up prizes (and thats only with permission).

Now there is actually a layout for your prizes.

forgive my bad ascii ability

kinda bad huh

anyways, the layout of the prizes should never change. Its like a travel Clue game i had. You always kept the pieces in the same room, or it screwed the game up.

Until there is a game mechanic that allows a shuffle of prizes, then no touchy

My Local League leader has allowed people to shuffle prizes before, like in a case where you think your opponent somehow figured out what his prizes were and in which order by some method which was not legall, but you can't prove anything.
He said that he needs to examine the card more closely.

I know this is kind of reviving, but this issue never got settled, and now that we have an english card scan, do you think we can get a clear ruling?
