Can Deoxys (LA) work as a good league deck?

Hey all. I saw this deck at Cities. It was a new player using it so it didnt do well, but maybe with a more skilled player it can? I dont know....

There are two other deoxys forms, Normal, and Speed.

I read their attacks and PokePowers and they have a little potential I think.
Being able to shift to another deoxys form to use an attack that better fits the situation is pretty unique.

Deoxys Normal form is better against evolution or high energy decks like Charizard and Tyrannitar.

Deoxys Speed can ruin Magikarps if they do not have BTS out yet.

Deoxys Defence is good for Machamp because Take Out will not work on it, and you hit for weakness.

Deoxys Attack form is just a good power hitter when its needed.

Being basic pokemon, you have lots of room for techs such as Drifblim FB for Vileplume.

What do you guys think?

I suppose this could work alright; one problem is that against SPs, they will get Power Sprayed.
Also, this deck has some bad matchups. Umbreon is something you would need to tech against (Speed Forme isn't going to KO that anytime soon), and really anything that just does damage to win. Gyara players will almost never have Magikarp on bench without a Gyara attached (excluding T1), and Magnegatr, VileGar, SP, and Donphan all have very favorable matchups against this deck idea.

Its not that I plan to play this for anything big, (Unless I found a list that actually worked well) but it would be a fun league deck.

Hmm, interesting. I always see the Deoxys' in the LA scans but i never pay much attention to them. However whether or not this idea is anyway competitive has yet to be discovered however it seems like a fun idea. The best thing about this is that with the attack forme Deoxys you could constantly switch out to another attack forme Deoxys and hit for a constant 80 damage without the negative downside (unless you're power sprayed or power locked), though x2 weakness isn't looking very good and how will you constantly heal Deoxys? you don't want to bog the deck down with too many healing techs and trainers plus the quickist you can set up and start attacking is T2 and that's if you run DCE and even if you do only 2 of the Deoxys can actually benefit from DCE, but the speed forme Deoxys seems like one of thse cards you would only run 1 of, so do you run some sort of starter? Or will you just start with a Deoxys and hope for a consistent flow of energy. Though as you said, the fact that the idea is based around basics does leave alot of room for techs.

Overall it seems like a so-so deck concept but i want to definitely try this out just so see how good it can be.

Actually, the pokepower carries over all effects on deoxys as well. So you cannot use that attack in sucession. Sigh...

As for starters, techs, engine, im not sure. It just sounded like a fun deck to try out.
 
You probably shouldn't use a starter, seeing as you won't get it a lot(depending on how many Deoxy you run). It would probably use a pretty basic T/S/S line, imo.
 
I personally wouldnt bother too much with the Attack forme - the energy cost is atrocious for a basic. The others have the virtue of being DCE-able.
 
Yeah, i've found that the attack forme Deoxys isn't a realiable attacker, it's attack cost makes it difficult to charge, so like the Speed Forme; you would only really run 1. (or 2, but i advise against that) The main attacker is mostly going to be the Defence Forme Deoxys, but it's attack power is pitiful, so Crobat G + Poke Turn would really help in that area. That also helps in adding some sorta of mini sp engine to search out Turns, Energy and a supporter. I've been trying it with Luxray GL lvX to try and get some easy prizes from the bench, but the low damage output really hinders the deck and belting a Deoxys only increases your damage output to about 60 which doesn't help too much which is this deck ideas real downfall - lack of damage.
 
To be honest, I feel that Deoxys is just as good, if not better then Arceus.
They are both Basics that require 2-3 energy to attack and thus Machamp KO's them both easily. However, Deoxys Defense form actually protects itself from Machamp's Take Out.
 
Uhh... I don't think so. Deoxys can't ALWAYS hit for weakness, or get 6 energy out T1, or be extremely speedyquick, or have the attack power, or the support, that Arceus does.
There's a reason people play Arceus and not Deoxys competitively.
 
Cause arceus has more playability? anyways it would make a fun deck but effective, not so much. I do have a beef, I wish they made attack 40 and reduce 40, instead of 40/20 for defense deoxys. cya
