Calyrex and Emergency Jelly were revealed from the Japanese set Incandescent Arcana, which releases in Japan on September 2nd. We should see most of the cards from this set become part of our Silver Tempest in November.
Calyrex – Grass – HP110
Basic Pokemon
[C][C] King’s Command: 30 damage. You may search your deck for up to 2 cards and put them into your hand. If you do, shuffle your deck.
[G][C][C] Brilliant Bloom: 90 damage. Heal 20 damage from each of your Pokemon.
Weakness: Fire (x2)
Resistance: none

the ol' berry wording, nice!
Caly seems alright, I'd definitely run it in grass glc even though its a tight list.

calyrex
low damage output but great effect, if calyrex had some semi bulk then it would have a niche, think about the bulk sledgehammer buzzwhole had in the zoroark days. not brokenly bulky but could withstand the format's trinity nova and gale thrust. second attack is very underwhelming. marnie will rotate soon after this comes out. so maybe the cards will relyably be in your hand during your next turn, but it is 2 energies so only 4 dte will exist to make it single attatchment. and dte will take away your damage output. grade: 1/5 no particular reason it would see play

emergency jelly
opponent can for the most part play around the 30 hp activation. 120 healing is not to inzane either. a basic arceus v could probably take care of the pokemon afterwards. maybe some pokemon with a sturdy ability could abuse this but I don´t think we have any in standard atm and the sturdy pokemon could be counterd by something like a zig ping. grade:2/5 you could experiment with this and aggron from battle styles, but that is a very counterable strategy.

Emergency Jelly would need to specifically be played before your opponent hits you when you know your opponent would put you 30 or less damage away from being KOed, and then you'd need to combo it with some other heal because at most you'll have 150 HP (30+120) after the jelly. Which is... Not a lot. Idk, it just doesn't seem very impactful and seems like it can pretty easily be played around. Big Charm is a better tool in healing decks, for example.

As a glc lead it's great, since it definitely won't get ohko'd going second and also going first, you should be able to get at least 2 king's command off before KO with either DCE and its ilk or with venusaur doubling your energy output. some potential with Brilliant Bloom as well to counter opposing lead Tapu Koko. This is exactly the sort of design the game ought to have going forward.

Maybe a low rating for "standard" but come on, look beyond that. A Pokémon card collection looks so much nicer from that perspective.

Calyrex 2/10 Low damage output but with a great effect. 20 damage doesn’t make a big difference in the meta.

Emergency Jelly 7/10 Could totally see this being a staple in most decks.

What about this card reaches out to you with the potential to be a staple in most decks? It is a passive healing effect with only a niche use that does not eliminate or prevent the chance of a two shot. It is simply a worse Big Charm in every way.

The calyrex card looks cool, but I haven't minded him lacking a standalone card considering how goofy he looks. Zarude + Calyrex + Eternatus is giving gen 8 a run for having the worst legendaries in any gen

I can see some use for it along Hisuian Goodra VStar. For example, you go first with it against pure Arceus VStar. You hit first for 200 and reduce 80 for incoming attacks, so you get hit for only 120. Then 120 again, leaving you at just 30. So you then completely heal one hit.

It might work against other decks as well, specially combined with other means of healing. Since you're reducing 80 damage every time you attack, it is specially easy to get to a point where you only have 30 or less HP remaining, and healing 120 can then be really huge.

Emergency Jelly - when will this card be useful in some situations. The only thing that this tool is useful is in some matchups, you'll know how much damage your opponent is hitting. If it only does 200+30 (Choice Belt) on a VSTAR, this can help. Otherwise, nah. 3-4
Calyrex - nah. Trading 2 card for a single-prize. Oh well. 3

Who plays Goodra?

Emergency Jelly can only be useful if it is paired with a Pokemon that has LOT Donphan's Sturdy Ability. If they print a Pokemon like that in the set, it could see play.

Agrgron DAA has the Sturdy ability as well, but the energy needed to attack is just awkward (1 metal 3 colorless).
