Ruling Beedrill Primal Clash

I have a question about Beedrill's first attack.

If I use Allergic Shock and my opponent retreats/ switches by some means or another, would Allergic Shock's effect still take place if I snipe it or if I Lysandre it? Also, the effect wouldn't apply to the new Active Pokemon, right?

I'm fairly certain that the effect goes away when the Defending Pokemon is Benched and that it doesn't affect the new Active Pokemon, but I want to make sure.

You're right. The effect goes away when the Defending Pokemon is no longer your opponent's Active Pokemon. And Allergy Shock would not effect your opponent's new Active Pokemon either.
