Okeydokeydoo, I'm going to write about the artist Yuka Morii today. Morii first appeared in.... Neo Discovery, I think it was? Either that or Neo Genesis, I'm for sure. As many people know, Morii's style is doing clay figures of the Pokemon. (It's funny... for one promo Pikachu card, it claimed it was a photo, not illustration. It wasn't clay.. could there be a real Pikachu running around? :) Yet, for Morii's clay figures, it still calls them illustrations, not photos. Weird....) They are usually common or uncommon cards, even though some (Blissey of Neo Revelation and Poliwrath of Expedition) appear as rares. As a result, there are rarely complete clay evolution lines. Now, I will list my favorite and least favorite. Oh, and clicking on the link underneath the Pokemon's name will take you to a place where you can view the illustration. (thanks Serebii.net!!!)
BEST:
Corsola

How intricate and detailed! How soft and cute! And what a GREAT set!!!!
WORST:
Shelgon

Ugh. Just, ugh. It looks like a miserable rat trapped in a shell. Ugh.

So, whassa yer faves and not faves?

Dedicated to Arcanine 274 Nyuk nyuk nyuk.

I just fell in LOVE with the clay pokemon! I love all of 'em! Except shelgon. My favorites are the DS dittos. Dots and smiles, just hilarious.

Yeah, but those common Pikachu, Charmander, and Squirtle were really cheap tricks. Just move the hands up a little, angle the head a little different.... and Presto! 3 brand new illustrations.

Did Yuka do all the clay figure art in the TCG, or were there other people who also did that? I liked a clay Caterpie that was done in the neo days, thought that one might've been hers.

Very nice and i liked the Corsola a lot (i'm holdin' it right now) heh. i like parasect fr/lg, one of my favorites of Yuka's. though the eyes are a little strange, i love the surroundings and the artwork. great artist.

Arcanine out.

ps i'm gonna do 1 on Ryo Ueda in a little bit. nyuk nyuk nyuk right back at ya!

There was this TERRIBLE artist back in the e-reader days, Hizuki Mosono, that did crap like this. http://pokemon.tcgplayer.com/tcg/scans/skyridge/065%20hoothoot.jpg
Now, there's another artist, Sachiko Adachi, who does clay-type dioramas. I personally like his/her work.

And yes, that Caterpie was a Morii sculpture.

Clay?! I thought those were PVC figures!

Anyway, I quite like Yuka Morii's work, moreso now I know it is clay... ;p

Light Azumarill from Neo Destiny is probably my favourite, I can't think of anything else right now...

I like this artist, I love clay figures (I thought they were made of plastiline! XD)

One of my faves is Tangela, but I like Slowbro and Wynaut too. And I don't think that Shellgon looks bad.
