PokeChamp Aspiring Trainer Member Sep 29, 2009 #2 Any and all effects on the defending Pokemon are eliminated upon being sent to the bench, via retreating, Switch, Warp Point, etc. In this case, no, Doom News would not knock out the defending Pokemon.
