I need decklists for Kommo-o GX. My son has a love for this card that frustrates me to no end. I've toyed with lists in my head, by I am by no means an expert when it comes to card pool knowledge. I always miss cards that work well from older sets and whatnot...

So anyways, my son is 10, hes got a decent hold of the game, but is still learning developing strategies. I was thinking Kommo-o/swampert/super boost energy? Seems like too many moving parts to me, but I'd like to see what Pokebeach thinks!

Hi Mario W! First off, I'm always excited to meet a dad who's involved in the game with his son. I am reminded of the basketball player Jim Valvano who said, "My father gave me the greatest gift anyone could give another person, he believed in me."

Anyways, I do think to have an additional Stage 2 wouldn't be out of line, although I think it would be a great chance to try out Meganium from Explosive Impact. Not only can you use it to pull out your main Pokemon, but it can give you more deck space by saving Pokemon! And of course, Super Boost Energy would be a great addition.

Meganium – Grass – HP150
Stage 2 – Evolves from Bayleef

Ability: Early Ripening Herb
Once during your turn (before your attack), choose 1 of your Basic Pokemon in play. If you have a Stage 2 card in your hand that evolves from that Pokemon, put that card onto the Basic Pokemon to evolve it.

[G][C][C][C] Solar Beam: 110 damage.

Weakness: Fire (x2)
Resistance: none
Retreat: 2

For further reference, I would suggest checking out Aaron Rucker's deck that placed 4th at Philadelphia Regionals: http://limitlesstcg.com/decks/?list=1310
Hope I could be of some help to you and best of luck!

I think your Pokemon lineup is ok, but it wouldn't hurt to have equal numbers of Basics and Stage 2s. Also, I think adding a couple Alolan Vulpix (Beacon) will make the evolution setup much quicker and more consistent! If you want, adding an Alolan Ninetails GX would also help with doubling even as an attack option. Not the best choice, but it's a good one.
Here are my quick suggestions for the Trainer Cards:
+1-2 Lillie
-2 Order Pad
-2 Judge
-1 Devoured Field
+1 Ultra Ball
+1 Professor Elm's Lecture
+1 Gladion

Hope this helps!

i'd go away from meganium, focus on getting swampert up and drawing into lance prism star, super boost energy, and zinnia to reload in the late game. Probably too many moving parts to be competitive, but it would be super fun the games it gets rolling. this is loosely based on the gardy swampert deck that was popular a little while ago

2 jangmo-o
1 hakamo-o
3 kommo-o Gx
3 mudkip
1 marshtomp
3 swampert
1 ditto prism
1 altaria (fight song)
2 alolan vulpix
2 alolan ninetales gx
2 tapu lele gx

21 pokemon

4 professor elms lecture
3 cynthia
1 lillie
3 guzma
1 lance prism star
1 zinnia
1 acerola
4 ultra ball
1 timer ball
2 brooklet hill
1 energy retrieval
4 rare candy
2 choice band

28

1 super boost
4 double colorless
2 fighting
2 electric
2 fairy

11 energy

I would work on a list with electric magnezone in order to quickly be able to power up Kommo-o GX in case you're already have a fighting energy on it

Some other cards which would also help:
- volkner / stevens resolve
- viridian forest
- lance
- altaria

I wonder if they are still working on this, it was last updated January before yesterday. Surprised nobody mentioned garchomp, but then I guess Kommo-O is just a tech there. I can't think of a competitive way to play it other than that. But magnezone could work, or just get lightning into play with koko prism, then electode to move it onto a kommo-o and manually attach fighting with the help of viridian. Put another electrode down after tanking a hit to move all the lightning off to another kommo-o so you can max potion the first one. Maybe even energy switch for the fighting, so you don't lose any attached energy. You have to tank hits and find a way to heal, because you are only doing 130 so you have to 2 shot and can't afford to go down very often. Makes it rough since you require 4 energy.

My edits on @LoSTXDRAGON s list. meganium helps to be faster and less candy reliant.
