I would suggest you to buy Pokemon Diamond-DS cause it rocks and there are other great games for it too...

If you have any other home consoles, and you get Wii, you tend to compare more, and thus being reliant on home consoles, whereas if you get a hand held console, you can play it anywhere.

Okay, I must have misworded. The Wii offers much more entertainment with the motion sensor and a larger variety of games, though if you're only focused on Pokémon, the DS is much more effeciant.
