Ruling 2-on-2 Rules Scan/ Link?

Background:
I'm a old-timer, used to play since waaaay back in the day as a drinking game w/ my friend John (10 hp = 1 drink) but my friend and me got way too crazy buying cards all the time so we quit. So I was out of the loop since the first generation all the way up to about diamond and pearl. I missed all the stuff in between. I dusted off the cards and played w/ my boyfriend this past fall and made the mistake of buying him a diamond and pearl theme deck which basically made my whole old collection weak and worthless. Now he's hooked and I'm back on the stuff again! Haha

Question:

I want to start playing some 2-on-2 battles w/ him but he's WAY too careful to just play with some rules posted by some random person on a message board.

Does anyone have a link to a SCAN or somewhere you can buy an original rulebook that shows the details for 2-on-2 battle? The diamond and pearl books make absolutely no reference to this play. Someone said it's in the "original EX starter deck" but I can't find any scans online. The rules posted here at pokebeach look close to official but they're still not really detailed when it comes to retreating and choosing which pokemon gets attacked and if you MUST replace after 1 of the two is knocked out and when...etc...

Thanks :)

This link details certain strategies for doubles play:

And this one details how you may only retreat one of your Active Pokemon per turn and other rule changes from the old days:

Both of these come from the official Pokemon TCG site.

If you buy an EX series theme deck, they should have all the official rules you need for doubles play.

By the way, in doubles play, you can only attack with 1 of your Active Pokemon each turn, even if you have two Active Pokemon.
