But the thing is how would you get Ho-Oh's attack set up efficiently
Not following pocket's metagame super closely atm, but either they're putting some kind of acceleration in here, or you just don't. Darkrai/Giratina is still one of the best decks in the game, I think they kinda looked at that and decided to make something without the passive damage or self-ramping in exchange for letting you play Irida with ho-oh and letting lugia nuke everything.

The babies being able to attack for free is interesting for me. All of a sudden, going first has gotten way better. Pichu means you can maybe go mono-water in dragonite and iirc a lot of electrics not named magneton could benefit from this kind of acceleration.

The baby Pokemon have always had that free attack cost, even in the main tcg. So yeah, it was expected their attacks would be free

It seems like Ho-Oh and Lugia are meant to have synergy in a deck together, cause Ho-Oh along with the elemental switch item card shown in the trailer could power up Lugia ex.

That's what I've been thinking as well. My guess is they expect us to use Pichu for that, as it powers Ho-Oh turn 2 going second, but then, you pretty much guaranteed lost a point (cause Pichu ain't living to see another day), and when you move Ho-Oh in to attack and charge Lugia, he will probably take a hit and leave you open to Cyrus for game the rest of the match. Doesn't seem like a winning strategy to me.

I think the babies are a trap. Their tradeoff is basically "you have a smoother first turn if you open with it, at the cost of your opponent starting with a point taken". Cause you better believe that if they become prevalent, people will just start running basic mons that have 1 energy attacks for at least 30 in every deck. At that point I don't know if it's worth it.

I guess we will see how things go with this set and how people will tend to play Lugia and Ho-Oh.

pleasantly surprised they're including babies after they omitted them from the gen IV sets!
in space time smackdown or triumphant light they were just adding tool cards into the game. It was way too early in the game's lifetime to add babies espessially in a very volatile meta with decks such as darkrai

The Elemental Switch is great cause it gives you the ability to remove dawn in decks like tapu koko ex, any dragonite deck and others, and can give you the ability to use another supporter...
