I don't think Bulbasaur isn't based off of frogs. Rock is also weak to Ice so Chespin is still stronger than Froakie, and Fennekin is now able to beat both of the other starters because Ground trumps Rock and Ice types.

Why would Ancient have any of those strengths/weaknesses? Like none of them make particular sense, unlike every other type. Or maybe the fossils are Rock types because they are able to use Rock type moves? Over time they eventually became Rock types for survival or just because they became used...

A pokemon inside its pokeball isn't hurt or helped in its pokeball, its just there safely. Pokeballs are like a Purgatory.

And Fossil type would apply to only a few pokemon and basically have the same advantages and disadvantages of a Rock type? I think all of the fossil pokemon were at some point rock types, whether it is because of their armor or head or shell or whatever.

How about an item that negates entry hazards? Why would they keep pokemon poisoned outside of battle? The whole point of the pokeball is to keep them safe outside of battles.

They could always pull a Bibarrel and make a pokemon that is Normal type evolve to be another type in addition.
