How about Yveltal EX as a safer alternative to Mewtwo? I've just started considering building Ho-Oh and that seems like a stronger play. Avoiding Mewtwo wars, Deoxys revenge kills and the threat of Sigilyph (beyond Safeguard), while only really fearing Thundurus.

Pokemon Center might hurt you too since your opponent gets to heal and your damage output is low-ish allowing them to recover enough to slow you down. Maybe Skyarrow Bridge instead?

Bangle makes for some great T1 Frost Spears and even though HTL would do the same damage, it's nice to not worry about Virizion preventing that. With the abundance of ways to clear Special Conditions in most decks (Float, Switch, Keldeo, etc.) I think that Bangle has become the more reliable play.

It does if you want it to be totally maximized. However, if you're just getting back into the game, I'm sure you'd have plenty of fun with it regardless of Beaches.

Sleeves have already been suggested, but there are also sleeve protectors. They're a slightly larger sleeve intended to fit standard size sleeves. They're usually used to keep rare sets of sleeves protected, but in your case it would help further protect the card.

Any combination of them. 1 Pokemon and 2 energy, 2 energy and 1 Pokemon, 3 Pokemon... You get the idea. It can be both. In the future, please post a scan of the card.
