'Chilling Reign' Staff Promo Surfaces...?! All the Info!

My theory is that TCPi really only wanted to put a brief moratorium on Staff promos until the supply chain was normalized and events could start back up. Before they stopped making the promos, Judges and Organizers like myself were basically at the mercy of the kindness of the LGS to give us...

'Eevee Heroes' TCG Set to Feature All Eeveelutions as Pokemon V, Plus Gengar / Inteleon VMAX Decks!

The distinction made here is an awkward one. Gladion doesn't tell you to flip anything; it tells you to "look". You are correct that Greedy Dice and Jirachi Prism Star do not activate with Gladion because you are not taking them as face-down Prize cards. In Pokemon, "taking Prizes" is a...

'Eevee Heroes' TCG Set to Feature All Eeveelutions as Pokemon V, Plus Gengar / Inteleon VMAX Decks!

Weakness and Resistance are gameplay mechanics and thus are not effects. Anything that changes a weakness or resistance isn't an effect that can be ignored either.

'Eevee Heroes' TCG Set to Feature All Eeveelutions as Pokemon V, Plus Gengar / Inteleon VMAX Decks!

Because Gengar is part poison type, which makes it weak to ground types. And ground types are represented by fighting types in the TCG. Yeah...things get awkward.

Blastoise VMAX, Venusaur VMAX, and More Revealed!

I'm not sure if you are confirming what I already said or not understanding...because I already mentioned that the "Professor's Research" and "Boss's Orders" cards were named this way to avoid future issues. To put it bluntly, I think TPC is just being cheeky by using Professor Juniper and...

Blastoise VMAX, Venusaur VMAX, and More Revealed!

Okay..."Professor Juniper" and "Professor's Research" are two different cards. Same with "Boss's Order" and "Lysandre". Nothing is being "overwritten" because the names are completely different. Having the same effect but a different name doesn't make a card legal for use (Standard or otherwise).

Blastoise VMAX, Venusaur VMAX, and More Revealed!

This was answered in the link that I posted: "From now on, instead of giving the card a new name each time, the name Professor's Research will be used. If the card is updated in the future, the new professor's name will appear in the upper-right corner of the card, but the card name will remain...

Blastoise VMAX, Venusaur VMAX, and More Revealed!

How this mechanic works was announced before Sword and Shield was released as part of the overall changes coming to the TCG in this block. This change was made to avoid having to make new clauses in the rules regarding certain cards that have maintained a certain mechanic, e.g. having to tell...

Kanazawa Pokémon Center Opens November 20th, Promos Revealed

If you want your mind blown, this Pikachu would be the 16th Pikachu promo for this block, since there are two Kanazawa's Pikachu cards. If you include the 3 Pikachu promos released by TPCi, then that numbers increases to 19.

Snorlax & Lapras VMAX Premium Collection Releasing October 16th

They aren't; they're just a pain in the butt to find these days. I've managed to get every 9 pocket binder for the past 2 generations (including the Hidden Fates one), but it's not as easy as it used to be. I used to just get them at Toys R Us or some retailer. Now you have to get them directly...

'Shocking Volt Tackle,' Japan's September Set!

They can hit for big numbers, but I think people are also thinking about the implications involved with the most pervasive deck in the format right now: ADP Zacian. ADP Zacian is an annoying deck in its own right (I should know; I play the darn thing) and Hero's Bath is now another tool in its...

'Pokemon HOME' to Launch with Free and Premium Features, GTS, IV Checking

But you can't use those Pokemon in competitive matches anyway, so what difference does it make? And in most cases, you would need to have a good held item for that Pokemon to work efficiently, which you aren't going to be able to transfer into HOME. You might be able to show off in front of...

Fall 2019 Collector's Chest Announced, Themed After Mewtwo Movie

Love the look for the tin, but man...they are killing me with these Evolutions packs.

'Hidden Fates,' Special Set Releasing in America This August!

Are you talking about the mat or pack art? Because Shiny Rayquaza is going to be on the mat.

    Lillie Regionals Promo!

They are doing it this way because if this card was released with the other Sky Legends cards, then the legality would reset and Lillie would remain in the format for *at least* another year. I don't think that Lillie was removed from Unified Minds/Hidden Fates just to be a Regionals promo. But...

'Tag All Stars' Trademark Filed, Likely a Huge Upcoming Set!

Japan actually does reprint sets like this quite often; usually 2-3 times in a block depending on how big the block is. However, very seldom does the West get more than a few cards from these sets, if we get any at all. In the case of GX Ultra Shiny, we got the new cards from that set, but...

'Unbroken Bonds,' May's English SM10 Set!

The attack doesn't specify that you need to shuffle the prize cards (can't imagine why you would need to). So yeah, you would simply put the prize cards out the way you want. If you just so happen to know what those cards are, the game doesn't care.

'Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution' TCG Tin with Charizard Promo!

Well, Japanese booster packs are 162 yen each, which is about $1.50. Multiply this by 8 and you get roughly $12. The rest of the cost comes from the guide, the promo, the Mewtwo download, and the tin itself.

    SM10a \'GG End\' Mini-Set in April

Not all Alolan Pokemon (baby or GX) have smudge attacks. This has been the case since base set Sun and Moon.

Worlds 2018 Decks Revealed, Release November!

I'm a T.O. I can confirm that Jeff Kolenc's name is on the Ineligible Players list. I can also confirm that there is no end date for his ban, so his ban is indefinite. The only reason why I can confirm this is because his ban isn't exactly a secret. Most competitive groups are already fully...
