Dry ice is colloquial, it's not actually made from water (ice). The reason it's called that is it's so cold any water that comes into contact with it instantly sublimes (goes from solid/liquid to gas) meaning it's always dry. However, if you swam through it you would freeze and die immediately too.

The dry ice itself will also sublimate at most pressures we experience on Earth, so getting it to melt at all is easier said than done. :p

As far as I'm aware the vapor produced is actually entirely CO2 from the dry ice; water shouldn't be able to evaporate by getting colder.
