Promos probably will be taken out from the set so the two genies, the starters (? Not sure about this one), Victini, Gothitelle, Reuniclus. If more than 65 means 68 + 6 SIRs confirmed that’s 74 * 2 that’s 148 + 8 promos= 156.View attachment 20768
There are 156 pokemon in Unova, Am I misunderstanding this? Doesnt that mean 78 IRs at least? But the count only adds up to 70, and thats not including trainers
I really hope it's an indication of them wanting to have global set releases, but it still seems unfathomable that they'll actually do it.certainly a choice. i wonder why they'd test the waters for this now of all times.
Wait the press release text for the white set says 70 IR so it’s probably 69 in one and 70 for the other. It’s probably the starters not being the IR for the promo so still checks outPromos probably will be taken out from the set so the two genies, the starters (? But they still say "basic x energy" in big ugly white bar directly under where it already says basic energy like other svi energy. Bummer because these would be great otherwiseSeems like they're bringing back the old b&w style energy cards?
It's been my pet theory for a while now that the SV series is a transitional period to unified releases. We switched to silver borders, retired the bespoke set symbols, started using Japanese pack art, and got near 1-to-1 sets like Shrouded Fable/Night Wanderer, and now we're getting a dual set release. Even overseas there have been a few moves to unify things: the Tactics decks released in China, Indonesia, and Thailand pretty obviously copy the aesthetics of our League Battle Decks, and the most recent Japanese starter kit adopted the Battle Academy name.I really hope it's an indication of them wanting to have global set releases, but it still seems unfathomable that they'll actually do it.
this is exactly why they do it though. their goal as a company is to make more and more money forever, so why release one set when you could release 2? why release one easy booster box when you could release 17 different products each with exclusive promos instead? why stop at one gimmick when you can add more and more and more and more things for people to spend more and more and more and more money on forever....With the addendum that this set will also have three tiers of reverse holo rarity, on top of 156+ IRs or SIRs, I like how they don't trust one gimmick that would clearly sell a set ("all of the Pokemon from one region," "special set," "everyone gets an illustration rare," etc) so they pile more in.
And then when there's shortages they'll turn around and say wow we had no idea people would want this set despite the 12 different gimmicks we stuffed into it! And feebly attempt to implement product limits even though they clearly want people to open hundreds of packs to chase all the gimmicks they've stuffed in (do we even need to speculate how bad the pull rates will be in English despite the 160 secret rares?).
It's just scummy and incompetent on the English side. To me a 350+ card/700+ card master set is a jump the shark moment.

i think the one on the left? the victini promo has that pattern!Do we know if the alternate poké/master ball holographic patterns are one or the other of these by chance? I am an avid collector of cards with the pattern seen on the Seaking card, so I wanted to know if there was a set answer to that or not yet…
you're telling me a card has the name of the card printed on it? the horror. But they still say "basic x energy" in big ugly white bar directly under where it already says basic energy like other svi energy. Bummer because these would be great otherwise
that is not true actually, Forbidden Light has the same name between both languagesStill really dislike english special sets. Buying a bunch of different products that most people normally wouldn't go for just to get a handful of packs.
Definitely don't regret quitting English and fully switching to japanese. It is cool though that this is the first time the English and japanese set names are the same
The hit rates are the same as any other product to say otherwise is just tooting your own hornYeah that's one good addition they did. Too bad the hit rates for those are pretty bad for the most part. I'll still take a whole box or sleeved individual packs but too bad they don't make them for special sets
