More Cards Revealed from “Black Bolt” and “White Flare,” Including New “BWR” Rarity Cards!

The monochromatic cards are an incredible callback to the original Full Arts from the BW era. Huge fan of these and can't wait to see the others they release!

I’m not a big fan of seeing new rarities being dropped without any hints of a pull rate but I have a feeling they’ll be the same or similar as the gold Secret Rares we get.

Seeing Prism Energy and Dynamotor Eelektric being reprinted is interesting. Prism looks usable but in a Stage 2-heavy format it’s not as ideal as it once was, maybe it could see some use in Joltik Box but I don’t see it happening.

Eelektrik was the main accelerator back when Rayquaza-EX was the meta but not many Lighting Pokémon benefit from it. One thing I like about this one is that AFAICT it’s a 1-to-1 reprint of the one from Noble Victories, meaning you could use the older print if you want to (something you can’t do with the new Inferno Fandango Emboar IIRC). This kind of helps the possibility of seeing reprints of Garbotoxin Garbodor and, although less likely, a “fixed” version of Ancient Power Archeops

Air Balloon is an interesting reprint to see, it’s an item from BW but the card itself debuted in SWSH. It could help with bulky pivots but I’m not sure if the need is there. Here’s hoping we get a third reprint of Tool Scrapper again.

Rare Candy never rotates. It doesn't need a new regulation mark until the first set of 2026 to stay in the format.

Garbotoxin is a mistake, Pokemon hinted at us that they'll never reprint it again with the recent release of cards, and abilities not being double-sided and mostly only works if the user is in the active spot.

Also, what's with the newer Stage 2s lately? It is now far from the goal of the SV stage 2s for having a cheaper attack cost.

Waaaaait... They actually did the thing. A lot of the Pokemon in this set so far have been directly based on BW-era cards, but just different enough that they're not a direct reprint. Eelektrik, however, is identical to the Noble Victories one, right down to the attack name. Pretty sure that is the first direct reprint of a Pokemon from a previous era in a long time. (That is legal in its current format, anyway. Classic and Celebrations don't count.)
