So I've been doing a nuzlocke of Pokemon X, and I thought I'd document it here bc why not.

I am currently 2 Gyms into the game, so here's the lowdown on what's happened so far:
-picked Froakie as my starter
-caught Weedle on Route 2
-caught Pansear in Santalune Forest
-caught Azurill on Route 3
-encountered a second Azurill on Route 22; ran bc I'm not doing duplicates
-caught a Riolu for my actual Pokemon on Route 22
-Azurill fainted to a trainer on Route 22
-beat Viola with no casualties
-caught a bunch of Pokemon between Route 4 - Cyllage City (including but not limited to: Flabebe, Bulbasaur, Sandile, Zubat and I randomly picked Tyrunt as my fossil mon), and fine-tuned my team a bit (most notably replacing Beedrill with Zubat)
-during a battle on route 8 I lost my Riolu
-replaced Riolu with a Sandile
-during my battle against Grant I lost both my Floette and Ivysaur (which I was quite angry and sad about, since those were two mons I really didn't want to lose)
-spent more time than I care to admit to thinking about my newly found hatred for Grant's Tyrunt
-replaced Floette/Ivysaur with Tyrunt/Roselia; Roselia to fill the Grass coverage I like having, Tyrunt bc it was the only Mon that gave coverage I didn't already have
-about to go on Route 10

My posts from now will be written in more of a story-like way, but I thought I'd just get all that out the way quickly.

After getting my hard-earned Cliff Badge, I decided it was time to go through on to the next town. Encountering an Eevee first of all, I did my stuff and got it in a Poke Ball. Since I'm still bitter about Grant's Tyrunt condemning both my beloved Floette and Ivysaur to rot in the PC forever, I decided that I didn't want a Pokemon of that same species on my team and put Eevee on my team instead of Tyrunt. (off story a bit, but as I want to keep this run as random as possible, I used a random number generator to decide which Eeveelution to use and it picked Umbreon for me) Battling a few trainers along the route provided no challenge; then going along -oh god it's another of those annoying Team Flare members- I used Frogadier to send the Team Flare grunt packing. Then after dealing with another trainer quickly yet ANOTHER Team Flare grunt had the audacity to almost KO my Roselia. Thankfully Golbat got revenge on them. Then after Sandile took a third and final grunt out, it was finally time for me to move on to the next town. After healing quickly, I discovered a Team Flare grunt was in Geosenge Town; thankfully they just said something that I probably should've paid attention to - but I am not paying any time or attention to them since they annoy me a lot - and then ran away and I only found rocks where they went.

Deciding it was time to head forward, Kalosian Maylene Korrina came up to me with her two Lucario and decided to battle me - does this mean I get the gym badge now? - and even though Power-Up Punch gave me a bit of a hard time, I came out on top. Then after she made another comment about her Lucario and mentioned again that she's the next Gym Leader -where is my badge I beat you fairly - it was actually time to head forward. But not before evolving my Pansear, because why not!

Going on towards Route 11, a Psychic type specialist ironically almost took my Dark type Sandile out. Running around in the Grass led me to encounter a Chingling - literally all I wanted was a Staravia - a quick and easy catch that I'm considering switching my Eevee for (I already have a Dark type, plus Frogadier evolves into a Dark type, and it's useful coverage for the next Gym). Now it's time for a double battle; my Roselia and Sandile got sent out against a Mr. Mime and Machoke - both of my mons are at a disadvantage! And since my team has taken a bit of damage already (nothing terrible though), I do have a bad feeling about this particular battle - and my premonition was right. My Roselia fell victim to my opponent's Mr. Mime, and got knocked out.

In Reflection Cave I was gifted with a Mr. Mime -a) I encountered about 5 consecutive Solosis (literally my fave Psychic evo line) afterwards which is the game's way of reminding me that life isn't fair and I will never get anything I truly want and b) why is it that I always catch Pokemon that have in the past knocked out former team members, first Tyrunt now Mr. Mime- . Yes maybe it makes me hypocritical that I'm putting Mr. Mime on my team after it knocked out a Pokemon of mine, when a few paragraphs ago I said I didn't want to use Tyrunt for that same reason. As much as I loved having a Roselia, I really love having easier times against Fighting type Gym Leaders.
Reflection Cave posed no real problems; plus Sandile evolved after battling a trainer there.
Now on to Shalour City; I picked up the Soothe Bell quickly -I just really want Golbat to be happy and evolve- get told to go to the big tower in the back by the two friends I can never remember the names of. Once there Korrina and her grandfather tell us all a bit more about Mega Evolution; and I find myself battling my rival for the right to have a Mega Ring. The battle is almost laughably easy; Krokorok and Golbat make quick work of his team.

Now it's time to actually get my Gym Badge. I don't know how many variations of 'Golbat and Mr. Mime barely broke a sweat against the other trainers' I can think of, so I'll just get straight on to the actual battle against Korrina. Mr. Mime did take a Fake Out from her Mienfoo, but next turn OHKO'd it with Psybeam. Machoke just survived a Psybeam; but even after Korrina used 2 Hyper Potions it still didn't pose any real problem. I switched out Golbat to deal with her Hawlucha - and two Wing Attacks later I finally got my Rumble Badge -but why did I have to battle you twice I beat you fairly when you used your Lucario against me-, and the icing on the cake - Golbat evolved after the battle! Then I find out I have to battle against her a third time - hooray I guess?
Anyway tune in for the next part of my (mis)adventure!

Current team:
Mr. Mime - lv.30
Simisear - lv.32
Crobat - lv.33
Frogadier - lv.34
Krokorok - lv.33
Eevee - lv.28

Current dead mons:
-Azurill
-Riolu
-Ivysaur
-Floette
-Roselia

Nice run so far - Lucky you getting Umbreon on the randomizer.
I want to see the next more established episode- this one I guess was rushed due to covering so much up to the point you decided to write your playthrough. But you still got it interesting and brought some early memories about the game I at least played only one time in my life. (that annoying Korrina ! )

Also - no nicknames?

This one was a bit more on the rushed side, usually I'd like to spend a bit more time writing it up but given that this was effectively my first real update I decided to get something out, just so there was something besides the bullet point list.
I'm not sure whether to do smaller instalments that are more frequent, or longer ones that might take a bit more time - my initial idea was to do an episode per Gym as it were (for instance, the next one would be everything up to and including the battle against Ramos), but that is open to changing, particularly if there's a longer time between Gym battles.

I actually don't tend to nickname my Pokemon - I know that it is generally done on nuzlockes, but I'd rather just have the regular species name for each Pokemon. Once I get Fly I might go back to the Name Rater and give all my mons names.

Whichever works for you.
Yeah you don't have to use nicknames - just that nuzlockers often say it brings you closer to your team and makes it harder when they fall in battle. I actually never managed to complete a nuzlocke challenge from start to finish, so I wouldn't know.

Hey, a Nuzlocke, nice! Always cool to see other people suffer through this hell find another person into Nuzlocking.

I'm interested to see where you go next! (Also, nooo not the Riolu! And the Ivysaur and all the others.)

Heading back to the Tower of Mastery to battle Korrina again -I'll have battled her 3 times now this is just getting more annoying than anything- and after a long climb up the ramp to the top, there she is. Talking a bit more about those Lucario and Mega Evolution, I find myself battling her again, except this time I'm using one of her Pokemon -at least none of mine are in danger, not that I think one Lucario would pose much threat to my Pokemon- against her. My Lucario did come close to fainting against her Lucario, but pulled out a victory. And afterwards - I get offered to keep that same Lucario! Of course I accepted, although I'm quite liking my team as it is so it's in the box for the moment (I did consider switching Eevee out for it, but I've grown fond of that lil brown furball). Plus keeping it means I know I have a strong Pokemon should the worst happen to any of my current team members.

Finally it was time to go on to Route 12; but before I could, my rival came and gave me the HM for Surf -finally my Frogadier can have a really good Water move-, which is always handy. Heading on to the route, I got offered a Lapras, but since my party was full I ended up declining the offer. Who am I kidding - I went and quickly put a mon in the PC and went back, then got my Lapras, then went back and swapped Lapras into the PC -now I have two good mons should I have a repeat of that time Grant took out two of my mons-. (off story but what is the consensus on using gift Pokemon in nuzlockes? I don't know if there's any real rule on using them or not)
Shortly afterwards I discovered a Chatot in the tall grass, that actually proved quite a pain to catch. But even after breaking out about half the Pokeballs in my bag, I did manage to get it. But with that being said - it's just going straight to the PC, since I already have Crobat for Flying type coverage, and Eevee for Normal type coverage (although that is only until it evolves).

Moving on, I found that riding on top of a swimming frog was not as fun as I expected it to be and I don't think the frog had a fun time carrying me either. After a quick battle against a swimmer, both Frogadier and I decided that for both of our enjoyments to stop the swimming.
Onto the next part of the route, I encountered a large farm area with a bunch of Skiddo. When I say that riding on a Skiddo was the most fun I've had in my life, I mean it. Even though I'm pretty apathetic towards Gogoat, I cannot fathom why anyone wouldn't love Skiddo. Skiddo Skiddo Skiddo. All I want in life is a pure innocent Skiddo and to ride around on it in the fields all day.

Now it's time to battle a breeder; I decide to let Eevee take charge of this one, since it's not had much time in the spotlight yet (plus I've been trying to get its happiness up, and I'm playing at night as of the time of writing this, so if it does evolve it would be into Umbreon). First of all it goes against a Seviper; Poison Fang doesn't deal too much damage, and Eevee's Return is a definite 2HKO. Seviper outspeeds and uses Poison Fang again but I'm not worrie -WHY IS IT GOING DOWN SO MUCH MORE THIS TIME NO EEVEE NO- 'critical hit! Eevee fainted!
I'm generally a positive person and it takes a lot for me to get actually angry, but now I am fuming. It is time for this Seviper to pay for what it did to my lil brown furball. Krokorok was just as angry as I was, and it made fully sure that that snake got what was coming to it (and I'm pretty sure Simisear and Crobat wanted to give it a piece of their minds as well).

Taking a quick trip back to the PC, I decide to pick up Lucario for my team because it's the best mon I have in storage.

Back on the route, I face a few more trainers; a bug user who my Crobat used for target practice, and another breeder -those breeders are going on my ever expanding list of enemies and I will not rest until all of them have been defeated- who went down easily.
Now I'm on to exploring Azure Bay; I'm not actually sure if this is legal during nuzlockes, but I did it anyway - I used a repel surfing since I wanted to get to the grassy island to catch my Pokemon for this area. I do that, find an Inkay -who cares if I've already got Dark type and Psychic type coverage, evil squids are amazing- and after a couple Quick Attacks from my Frogadier it's mine, although Frogadier did end up asleep during the battle -and when I said earlier about how riding on a swimming frog wasn't fun, riding on top of a swimming, sleeping frog made it go from not being fun to just straight up weird-.

Heading back along the Bay, a few trainers pose no real issue and I get given an Ampharosite -it would've been nice to get a Mega Stone on a Pokemon of mine that can actually Mega Evolve... but the literal only option for that is the Absol I have in my PC which is about 20 levels lower than everything else anyway-. I also take a bit of a gamble and switch in my Krokorok against a Slowpoke, but luckily it went all how I wanted it to (Slowpoke tried using a Psychic move, then Krok outsped it and 1HKO'd it with Crunch).

Now I'm in Coumarine City, I'm all ready to get my next badge and -oh lord do I really have to battle my rival again, well free money I guess- there seems to be no sign of the Gym, nor the Pokemon Center. Wait, there's a train? This City's level of coolness just went up. After riding said train, I end up at the other side of the city - and before anything else, I pop down to the desert route below, to see what's in store for my team -A WILD GIBLE APPEARS! MY NEWLY CAUGHT PRECIOUS LAND SHARK DRAGON I WILL NOT LET ANYTHING HAPPEN TO YOU- and as you may have gathered, it was a Gible which has now replaced my Lucario. Conveniently I caught it at lv.27, which means it comes with Dragon Claw.

Now onto battling my rival again; trying out the bait-and-switch technique to get my lil Gible some experience proves easy enough against his Meowstic (which Krokorok takes care of) and his Quilladin (which didn't even have time to be scared of Crobat before the bat knocked it out). Since I don't actually have any Fighting, Bug or Fairy type moves on any mons, I decide to send out Frogadier against his Absol. Everything seems to be going smoothly - except his Meowstic annoying set up Light Screen, which means Surf isn't doing as much as I'd like it to -OH GOD FROGADIER WHY IS YOUR HP GOING DOWN SO MUCH -sigh of relief, it survives-. After my experience with Eevee, I take no chances; I use a Hyper Potion on the frog, and a couple turns later I'm the winner of the battle. Then to add insult to injury, my rival not only loses the battle, but also gets to see that the exp his defeated Pokemon gave made both my Gible and my Frogadier evolve! Then he says something about me being stronger than him, which is a pretty accurate assessment.

Now, it's time to earn my next badge; I'm not too worried, since Simisear and Crobat are both strong against Grass types, and Mr. Mime can deal with any Grass/Poison or Fighting mons. I just don't really wanna use Krokorok and Greninja as they're weak to Grass, and Gabite since it's a few levels lower than a lot of mons there.
Swinging around and climbing ropes is a pretty fun idea for a gym puzzle, and before I know it I'm battling another trainer with a Simisage; I felt there was a sense of poetic justice using my own elemental monkey to beat it. Swinging around even more, I encounter another trainer whose Roselia goes down pretty easily to my Mr. Mime, and their Wormadam was trembling in fear at the site of my Crobat. I battle a couple more trainers, but Simisear and Crobat basically leave a lot of challenge to be desired.

On to the actual gym leader; Ramos starts with a Jumpluff, and even though I was planning to immediately switch Gabite out, there's only a 1-level difference between the mons; why not let Gabite have a turn. However the opponent's Acrobatics does more than I'd like it to, and Dragon Claw doesn't take a lot of HP out of the Jumpluff. Fortunately, Crobat has Acrobatics of its own, and quickly comes in to help Gabite. Next he's bringing a Gogoat out -as much as a rideable goat with grass on it is cool, it just doesn't hold up to how cute its pre-evolution is- and I bait-and-switch with Gabite again; this time I go to Simisear for help though. Gogoat does prove powerful; it does leave my monkey with not-very-much HP left. Next up is a Weepinbell, and why not let Mr. Mime have some fun. It does immediately poison my clown-mime-fairy immediately, but one Psybeam later, the badge is mine.

This is as far as I am, so tune in next time for the next of my tale!

Love the update! Maybe this will give me motivation to continue my own nuzlocke.
Mr. Mime can deal with Poison types, but be careful: Psychic doesn't resist Poison, so Mr. Mime is still overall weak to Poison moves.

(off story but what is the consensus on using gift Pokemon in nuzlockes? I don't know if there's any real rule on using them or not)

Depends on you to be honest. Some people use them indiscriminately, others ban gift Pokémon in their runs. The rule I personally use is that gift Pokémon count as the encounter for the route, but it's really up to you.

After heading back from getting my badge from Ramos, I start heading onto the desert. Since I already got my Gible there before my gym battle, I basically run from every Pokemon that shows up -except Trapinch and Dugtrio who are both annoyingly capable of having Arena Trap- and I see several areas of a Power Plant; I guess I'm gonna inevitably go in there for some reason -is that seriously Team Flare again?- anyway I find and battle a Team Flare grunt; his Houndoom going down quickly to my Gabite, and Mr. Mime deals with his Golbat easily. Then they're saying something about losing their Power Plant Pass, which I find easily -and for some reason he straight up watches me go in despite not wanting me in the building-.

Heading into the building, I see a few people cowering in fright -seriously these Team Flare grunts are walking jokes how does anyone find them intimidating- and of course it's up to me to save the day. Again. Why does this not surprise me. I battle several grunts -and I start thinking to myself whilst Gabite Dragon Claws his way through the Flare grunts: why must I, a child, be responsible for dealing with criminals and their shady shenanigans? Are there seriously no authorities in the Kalos Region? Literally all I've done is earn 4 Badges. Where are the Elite Four? Where are the Gym Leaders? No wonder villains are rife throughout Pokemon regions; there is a complete absence of any real authority and therefore they know they can get away with their evil doings. It feels like most of the time that it takes them going to extremes with their plans for basically any authority to acknowledge them, and they never do anything until we young ones have defeated them anyway-. None of said grunts really pose a challenge, and it's always nice to get a bit of money and exp for my team. Although I do realise that Greninja's moveset (Surf/Water Pulse/Water Shuriken/Quick Attack) is quite meh, so I plan to use a few TMs on it.

After all the grunts are taken care with, I'm challenged this time by Pitbull and J-Lo to a dance off of On The Floor a Team Flare Admin and a Team Flare scientist named Aliana -am I finally battling someone from this team who has an actual name?!-. Gabite takes care of the Admin's Houndoom, and Simisear deals with the Aliana's Mightyena. Then they talk about something that I pay a grand total of zero attention to. Once they've left, Dexio and Sina two mysterious heroes commend me on being able to defeat the evil team before they even showed up -seriously I barely broke a sweat doing this it's not like it was hard - and inform me that Lumiose City is open for tourism again, and on that note I plan to get my badge from there but not before encountering a stranger lamenting a flower Pokemon -I can think of two flower Pokemon that I've lamented for, I miss you both Ivysaur and Floette- and then he walks off.

Heading into Lumiose City again, I immediately encounter Shauna, who seemingly has some doubt that I was responsible for getting rid of Team Flare and getting the power back -as if being the only responsible person in the region isn't enough now even my friends are doubting me-, but then takes me to see the Pokemon version of the Eiffel Tower being lit up. She also mentions that she's friends with the gym leader and his sister which is good for her I guess? She says as well that the leader gave her a puzzle solving device -but can it solve the puzzle of why a child has to defend this region from a fiendish group of bad people who wear ugly clothes? Probably not!-, which I'm sure will come in to some use later. Now it's time to actually get my badge from this gym! I'm quite thankful to have two strong Ground types in Krokorok and Gabite, since they're straight up immune to Electric types, and they both have Dig which is a decent enough Ground move. I can see Simisear/Mr. Mime possibly coming in useful, and Greninja/Crobat will probably both do nothing since they're both weak to Electric and they're too valuable for me to risk anything happening to them.

Going into the Lumiose Gym, I find out that the puzzle is a quiz. I get asked what silhouette a Pokemon is - and yes I do know that it's Pikachu, but who would pass up on free exp? The two wrong-answer trainers go down easily to Gabite. The third trainer also goes down easily to Gabite, but this time I actually advance to the next floor. I don't wish to bore anyone, so just repeat those last two sentences, but replace 'Gabite' with 'Krokorok' for floors 2 and 4. This Gym is seriously one of the easiest I have ever faced (although I expect having Krokorok and Gabite with STAB Dig are probably the reason for that).
Now, it's on to the Gym Leader himself, Clemont. Before he can introduce himself - his sister introduces him. Now on to the all important Gym Battle:
He starts with an Emolga; I lead with Krokorok - it is a bit of a pain that I can't hit it with STAB Dig -but considering I've swept through the entire Gym without letting anyone hit with STAB Electric moves maybe I deserve it-, but Crunch is a solid 2HKO and Emolga's Aerial Ace doesn't do enough for me to worry. Next up is Heliolisk, and since Krokorok has had a moment in the spotlight I decide to let Gabite have a turn. Quick Attack doesn't do that much - and Gabite solidly 1HKOs the electric lizard with Dig. Finally he sends out a Magneton, which also goes down laughably easily to Gabite's Dig -oh lord I didn't realise it has the Sturdy ability-... make that a Dragon Claw and a Dig. A critical hit Dig to be precise.
Now I've earned my Voltage Badge, and the TM for Thunderbolt - which is actually really great since that's one of the better Electric moves. Plus it means my Mr. Mime can have a damage dealing move that isn't Psybeam.
Immediately after leaving, I get a call from Prof. Sycamore, and end up meeting him and Lysandre in a cafe, have a brief chat about the history of Kalos, then leave. But where do I go now? Find out next time! because my 3DS is dangerously close to running out of battery and it needs to recharge

Team:
Greninja lv.37
Krokorok lv.39
Gabite lv.38
Crobat lv.37
Mr. Mime lv.36
Simisear lv.37

Current death list:
Azurill
Riolu
Ivysaur
Floette
Roselia
Eevee

Sorry for the delay on this new part - I've been busy with other stuff and haven't had much time to play, but I'm hoping to get a fair bit done over the weekend so hopefully there won't be another wait like this one!

Up to you I guess. I mean you don't nickname them and that's a rule too

and Eevee for Normal type coverage (although that is only until it evolves).

Leaving the cafe, I immediately receive a call from the friend who's name I always forget, asking me to meet him on Route 14. Of course I go there, and apparently me seeing 10 Pokemon in the Mountain Kalos Dex is better than him -seriously he wants to fill the Pokedex and he's seen a maximum of 9 out of 150?- and mentions that him and I have both seen Gible -I literally caught a Gible and have it (now evolved) on my team of course I've seen it- and before I know it my competitive rival is challenging me to a battle. He starts off with Meowstic, which isn't a great matchup on the Mr. Mime I put at the front of my team. Fortunately Krokorok is here to save the day; Crunch is almost a 1HKO and despite it being super effective on my Krok, Meowstic's Disarming Voice isn't worrying - even scoring a critical hit, it doesn't even take half of Krok's HP away. Next he sends out Chesnaught; even though I'm tempted to send out Mr. Mime for the Psychic advantage over it, I don't wanna risk anything happening to my clown-mime-fairy, so Crobat deals with it instead. One Acrobatics later and Crobat emerges victorious. Next up is Absol -I seriously still have no move on any of my Pokemon that are SE on Dark types I really need to sort that out- and I send out Simisear just because it feels like I've not used it for a while. Well, not since the Team Flare fiasco at the Power Plant. Simisear wins fairly easily and I emerge the victor of the battle.

Next up Shauna is suddenly there - and we're talking about visiting a scary house -I don't even watch horror movies but I know enough that houses like that should be avoided at all costs- and they leave me to it. I head up the route further and find some grass; it's time to catch my Pokemon for this area - although I decide to actually catch my Pokemon in the marshy area rather than the grass. The encounter starts -CAN IT BE?! HAS THE GAME GIVEN ME ON OF MY FAVE POKEMON OF ALL TIME?! THIS IS THE BEST DAY OF MY NUZLOCKE SO FAR- and I find and catch a Goomy.
Although now I am at a conundrum: my team is good as it is, and there isn't a member I would want to replace. However, being lucky enough to get a Goomy on a run where it could have easily been something else, and to then not use it goes against every single thing I believe in. I do a whole process of elimination with pros/cons of swapping each team member out for Goomy, and eventually I come to the conclusion that Gabite is the best option to switch for Goomy (Goomy replaces the Dragon typing that Gabite has, and I already have Krokorok for Ground type coverage). Even though it does pain me, there's just no way I can pass up on Goomy. It also means I have a reliably good backup Pokemon should the worst happen to any of my team members. Leaving Gabite in the PC -I'm so sorry my sweet land shark dragon. It's not you, it's me. I will always cherish you and look back so fondly over our time together. If I ever need another Pokemon, you will be that Pokemon.- I head back to the Route with my Goomy.

Back on the route, I battle a ranger who uses an Arbok and a Pyroar; I use Mr. Mime against Arbok -and still I completely forget that Mr. Mime is a Fairy type and therefore weak to Poison. Even though all the times I've used it against Poison mons I've been fine, I am going to straight up seriously risk losing my clown-mime-fairy at some point because of my bad memory regarding this- and Krokorok against Pyroar. However, by the end of the battle something happened and as a result of it I don't have a Krokorok anymore.... Krok beat the Pyroar, the exp from the battle got him to hit lv.40 - I now have a Krookodile. (this is super off story, but I've always loved the name Krookodile. It's just such a good name.)
On the next battle, I test out my new Goomy against a Litwick; it takes a few Dragon Breaths, but my lil dragon slug wins. A lot of the next Pokemon I battle are ones that I feel Goomy might not come out so well against, and I decide to just do my usual bait-and-switch method with it to get it some much needed exp. I did have an annoying battle against a Poliwhirl which got lucky paralysing both my Mr. Mime and Greninja with Body Slam, getting both of them to lower HP than I'd like. However Crobat was there to save the day!
Shortly afterwards, my friends and I visit the haunted house -unless there is a Rotom hidden in a TV here I'm not very interested though- and get told a spooky story -which I guess might be scary for someone a third of my age- by a man living there, who then asks for a tip -seriously this place wasn't even slightly scary- as if me giving my time wasn't enough. Then afterwards, I talk to one last Hex Maniac who gives me the TM for Toxic -which is actually really useful, since Crobat doesn't have a Poison move yet and now I can teach it the Toxic/Venoshock combo for the next Gym- and I'm in Laverre City.

Exploring the City, I get given a Gengarite -yet another Mega Stone for a Pokemon I will probably never have-, find someone who tells me which Pokemon I had during each Gym battle and it's quite nice to put in perspective that I've kept Simisear and Greninja alive since the beginning of the game. I also go to the clothes shop, since I've been wearing the same outfit since I developed an irrational hatred of Tyrunt when Grant's one KOd both my Ivysaur and Floette Cyllage City. After my makeover, I find someone who loves 'tiny Pokemon' and takes an instant liking to my Goomy -not to brag but I loved my Goomy before I'd even thrown a Pokeball at it. Beat that.- and gives me a Poke Doll for reasons I don't quite understand.

I decide to do a bit of sightseeing at the Poke Ball factory -oh my days please don't tell me who that orange-suited person guarding the door is who I think it is - am I seriously going to have to deal with this team again- but the Team Flare grunt tells me to leave since adults are talking inside -please tell me that at least 50% of the adults in there are proper authorities- so I head to the Gym instead. But not before teaching Crobat the Toxic/Venoshock combo. I'm not going to pretend that the bat won't be my main mon this Gym.
Heading in, I see that it's a teleport-based Gym puzzle in a dolls house (off story but I love the whole aesthetic of this Gym so much). I have no idea what I'm doing or where I'm going; I first go to a room with a sewing machine, then to a bathroom, then I encounter the first trainer of the Gym in what I think is a study. The trainer uses an Aromatisse, which tries Attract-ing Crobat, but since both Aromatisse and Crobat are female nothing happens. After Toxic/Venoshock, Crobat wins. I do take a bit of a gamble with the next trainer as they use a Dedenne and I bait-and-switch my Goomy to Krookodile, but it uses Snore for reasons I don't understand and Krook 1HKOs it with Dig. Next an Azumarill comes out, but rather than bait-and-switching with Goomy I go straight to Mr. Mime since Azumarill is a pretty strong mon and I don't wanna take any more damage than I have to - and it was the right choice; one Double Edge from Azumarill does an uncomfortably high amount of damage to Mr. Mime (although Mime does 2HKO it with Thunderbolt).
The next trainer has a Klefki and Kirlia which both go down to Simisear, and a Granbull which I did plan to use Crobat on, but when I switched in the bat from Goomy it immediately Roared it away, putting Simisear in the battle. One Flame Burst from Simisear didn't do enough to KO it, and then it Roared again, this time with Mr. Mime coming out. Psybeam finished it off nicely though. Finally I battle a trainer with a Slurpuff, which Crobat deals with easily enough.

Now it's time for the battle against Valerie. She starts off with Mawile, me with Goomy. Well, Goomy which immediately gets swapped out for Simisear. Mawile goes down easily enough; one Flame Burst and Simisear is victorious.
Next up is Mr. Mime - and this gets a bit tricky. I can't risk Crobat being hit with Psychic, nor Greninja/Goomy/Krookodile with Dazzling Gleam. My own Mr. Mime only has Psybeam and Thunderbolt so it would probably struggle. The only real option is Simisear. It annoyingly sets up Light Screen immediately, whilst Simisear Yawns at it. Simisear then Bites it, but a Psychic from Mr. Mime does more damage than I'd like. Taking a massive risk, I switch in Krookodile hoping that Crunch will get it KO'd easily. Mr. Mime wakes up immediately and uses Dazzling Gleam on my Krook, but luckily it survives and Crunch does enough to get it knocked out.
Finally, Valerie sends out her Sylveon. I go to Crobat, which takes Dazzling Gleam easily, and even though Sylveon hits a critical hit with Swift, it doesn't do enough to really worry me - but Crobat is a bit low on HP now so I use a potion anyway; I am not risking anything happening to my bat. After the Toxic and Venoshock combo, Sylveon goes down easily and the battle is won. I receive my Fairy Badge and the Dazzling Gleam TM -finally I have a good move against Dark types- and head out.

Immediately after I leave, Shauna and one of the others tell me to go with them to the Poke Ball Factory -wasn't the team trash I mean Team Flare grunt there earlier?- and by the time I arrive, they've already got into trouble with the evil team. Me and my actual rival head in with the others distracting the guard - and my rival makes a shady remark regarding Team Flare's ugly uniform -this is truly such a blessed moment. I have never been so proud of him before. I am truly honoured to call him my rival-. He also then battles a TF grunt for me. I carry on going through the factory; a Toxicroak provides no challenge for my Mr. Mime -and yet again I remember that Mime is weak to Poison after I've sent it in-, then Mr. Mime gets to then finally hit a Dark type with SE Dazzling Gleam, then Goomy, who's finally getting around the same levels as the Pokemon I'm battling, deals with a Golbat. Of course, it helps that I taught it Thunderbolt.
Another TF grunt gives the advice 'don't worry, be happy' - I don't think she was very happy that my happiness involved thwarting Team Flare's plans. I then find a room with a bunch of scared scientists -you literally work in a Poke Ball Factory use one of the balls and catch yourself a good strong Pokemon or two- and I vow to get the villains out. Then, after solving the puzzle of where to go with the conveyor belts, I encounter Team Flare higher-ups. First of all an Admin who I beat quite quickly, then me and my rival team up against Iggy Azalea and Charli XCX for a rap battle to Fancy two Team Flare Scientists. My Krookodile 1HKOs the Liepard, but my rival's Meowstic goes down quickly. My rival then sends out his Chesnaught, which Krook joins forces with to get Manectric down easily. As a thank-you, I get given a Master Ball -ironically I might never use it- and a Big Nugget -time to sell it on to get money lolololol-. One of the guys in the friend group mentions that we shouldn't get involved with Team Flare -too late lmao- and that the next town is Dendemille Town. Which I will be visiting next time, since this has already gone quite long.

Team:
Goomy lv.37

Krookodile lv.41

Current death list:
Azurill

This went on a bit longer than I'd usually do - I'm gonna be busy for the next few days so I thought I'd get a good one in now, but hopefully I won't be too long on the next part.

edit: I've also decided that I'm gonna give all my mons nicknames now. My newly named teammates are:
Jan the Krookodile
Batsy Stone the Crobat
Ms. Mime the (female) Mr. Mime
Goo Lord the Goomy
Blazer the Simisear
Froaklin the Greninja (fun fact: in my very first playthrough of X back when it first released this was the nickname I gave my Froakie lmao)

Heading on to Route 15, I start by finding my Pokemon for this route, and I'm gifted with a Skorupi. I'm actually quite pleased since I like Drapion a fair bit - although I decide for now not to put it on my team since I already have Batsy Stone for Poison coverage, and Jan and Froaklin both provide Dark coverage. Going through the route I battle several trainers and have more ohgodmypokemonisgoingtodie moments than I care to divulge, with Ms. Mime, Batsy and Froaklin all getting into dangerously low HP territory.
After a double battle against a Drifblim and a Floette, Goo Lord tries to evolve - but I press B to stop it evolving. Not because I have anything against Sliggoo, but because I know Goomy learns Dragon Pulse a few levels earlier than its evolution.
Going on further, I see what looks like the ruins of an old building; after battling a Hex Girl I enter them, discovering that it's known as the Lost Hotel. After beating the first punk there, I battle another who sends out a Seviper -and I have instant flashbacks to the one that left me without an Eevee- and an Arbok. Jan deals with both of them easily enough -I'm finally learning to remember that it's risky to use Ms. Mime against Poison types! It's taken me long enough-, although the Arbok spams Mud Bomb which makes Jan's accuracy annoying lower. Shortly afterwards I have a double battle with two Punks, who use Garbodor and Pangoro. Ms. Mime does the bulk of the work against them, with Psychic KOing the Garbodor and Dazzling Gleam KOing the Pangoro. Goo Lord also hits lv.42, learns Dragon Pulse, and I let it evolve.
I then find a wild Pokemon (the reason I didn't do this immediately was because I had a repel still working), which turns out to be a Magneton! I'm really pleased since I have a soft spot for the Magnet line. I'm seriously debating switching something out for it, but I'm not certain what. Naming it Disclosure (after the musical duo, who have a song called Magnets), I send it to the PC.

Afterwards, I try to go forward - but get told I don't look good enough to see 'the boss' -how absolutely dare they. My outfit is gorgeous.- so I leave. Afterwards I try going to Route 16, but realise I need something with Strength to go on to the route. Quickly teaching it to Jan, I head on. I actually find a Klefki as my catch for the route, and 1 Muddy Water from Goo Lord leaves it with just above half of its HP left, so I go for a second one to try and get its HP in the red zone - but the second was a critical hit and the Klefki fainted. Unfortunately that means no mon for me at all for this route.
A double battle between Blazer/Ms. Mime and a Gardevoir/Alakazam proves quite tricky; I actually end up with almost two lost team members, but thankfully there were no faintings on my side. However, a battle against a Crawdaunt proves a lot worse: an accidental misclick of Psychic instead of Dazzling Gleam (or even Thunderbolt would've worked) means that Ms. Mime doesn't do anything to the Crawdaunt, and then gets KOd with a Night Slash -I am so so sorry Ms. Mime. You were one of my most trusted, beloved team members. I will hold this mistake for the rest of my life. I hope you're in a better place. Why did I have to make such a foolish mistake. I've made errors in my time, but none with consequences like this-. After this I can't be bothered with much else on the route, so I go to Dendemille Town. After I arrive, Sycamore and Dexio tell me a bit more about the legendary Pokemon they'd previously mentioned - and that its name is Sunkern Xerneas. They mention how fun it would be if I found it -I'm literally a child why are people expecting so much of me- and then they leave. I head to the Poke Center to organise my team without Ms. Mime; I replace her with Disclosure the Magneton. After a bit of exploring in the town, I discover the move relearner; I realise there are several Pokemon I have who have moves from past levels that would really benefit them (notably Greninja finally getting a good Dark type STAB with Night Slash). Because of this, I decide to take a short break from my adventure, and go collect Heart Scales. I get all the ones available in Route 8 and Azure Bay, then smash a few Rock Smash rocks in various locations to try and get a few more just in case any future mons might need them. I then teach Froaklin Night Slash, and I replace Batsy's Venoshock with Cross Poison.

Now that's done, I go back to the small path between the town and the Frost Cavern; after a quick battle, I get told a Mamoswine senses something bad in the Frost Cavern -I know it'll end up being me sorting it out- and of course I head there. My first Pokemon actually turns out to be a Beartic - and that's actually pretty cool -pun completely intended-. However, unfortunately during the catching process, it breaks out of the ball and ends up KOing Disclosure, who's HP got low during the battle; I got cocky thinking I would be fine not healing it. -even though your time was short lived, you will always have been part of my team-. However, once I catch the Beartic, I name him Mabel (for no other reason than I like the name), and put him on my team replacing Magneton. With a couple of spare Heart Scales, I get Aqua Jet and Superpower on him from the move relearner; priority moves are always nice to have, and I'm quite lacking in Fighting type coverage.
Going forward through the Frost Cavern, a few trainers don't pose much of an issue, and it's good to get Mabel caught up to the rest of my team level wise. I also remember that I'm terrible at the ice floor puzzles, and end up getting stuck a few times. However, a Black Belt on one of the floors catches me off guard; I don't realise his Throh has Rock Slide - and unfortunately it spells the end of Blazer -my poor dear Blazer you were the second or third Pokemon I caught, you were absolutely one of my most treasured team members. This is one of the worst moments of my journey so far. I will be lost without you. I will forever cherish the time we had together-. After that battle, I go to back to Dendemille to refigure my team; I actually end up putting the Inkay from Azure Bay on my team - even though it is around 15 levels below the rest of my team, I really miss having Psychic coverage, and that's the only mon I can get it from. I did consider Gabite, but since I have Goo Lord and Jan it doesn't add any new coverage to my team. I bait-and-switch with it to get it some much needed exp; it's nowhere near the level to be battling the Pokemon around here. I also have a bit of a panic moment when a Mienshao uses Rock Slide on Batsy Stone; even though Batsy was in the first turn of Fly and avoided the attack, I had some worries about after Batsy had attacked - but luckily Fly was a 1HKO.

After heading through the cave a bit more, I encounter Team Flare -I've already had a stressful enough tie in here as it is do I seriously have to deal with them as well- who are trying to catch an Abomasnow. I take out a grunt fairly quickly -of course it helps that I have Mabel with Icicle Crash to deal with her Golbat, and Jan to deal with her Manectric- and then I'm battling a scientist called Mable -Mabel the Beartic sweetie I'm so sorry that you share the same name (even if it is a slightly different spelling) as one of the Team Garbage I mean Flare people. Please don't associate yourself with this villain-. She only has a Houndoom, which Froaklin deals with easily. After the team leaves, Abomasnow gives me an Abomasite, which even though I may never use, is still nice to have. Afterwards, I head down a small path to grab the Frost Breath TM, then I leave the cave.

I'm ending this part here even though I'd originally planned to do so after the Anistar Gym battle; I've been playing quite infrequently and as such I'd like to get something out rather than potentially waiting even longer.

Goo Lord the Sliggoo - lv.44

Now that all the Frost Cavern shenanigans is taken care of, I go to the nickname person to give Inkay a name; I decide to call her Blinky. Now that's done, it's time to head on to Route 17. I find out that I actually need to ride a Mamoswine to get through -even though it's no Skiddo it's still a fun ride-. Whilst we're going through the heavy snow, Mamoswine steps on a Sneasel - which then attacks. Even though I catch it, I decide against using it for now, since 50% of my team is already Dark type and I have Mabel as an Ice type. What I'd really like is another Fairy type, but I've looked it up and I believe that the only one available (excluding Xerneas) between now and the end of the game is Jigglypuff. Nothing against that line - but I feel like my chances of getting a Fairy are slim.
After traversing through the route, I get a call from my rival, challenging me to a battle -yay more free money I guess. Plus Blinky could use the experience- in Anistar City. I pick up the Flamethrower TM in the Pokemon Center, mainly because I'm missing the Fire coverage that Simisear once provided. Although I wasn't expecting Jan, Mabel, Froaklin or Batsy to be capable of using it, I did think Goo Lord might - but I was mistaken; Blinky is the only mon on my team capable of learning the move.
The battle with my rival is pretty easy; Froaklin 2HKOs his Meowstic and Batsy 1HKOs his Chesnaught. However his new Vaporeon is a bit troublesome since the only SE move I have against Water on my entire team is Goo Lord's Thunderbolt; I send Goo Lord out, but I don't factor in that it has Aurora Beam, and my dragon slug ends up in a bit more trouble than I'd like. However Froaklin comes to the rescue and finishes off the Eeveelution. Finally he sends out Absol, and since Mabel has Superpower, I decide it's his time to shine. However it does hit a critical hit with Night Slash and leaves Mabel with 4HP left, which is uncomfortably low. After the battle, Blinky evolves, which is always nice. She's still a good 10 levels below the rest of my team, and doesn't have a great moveset, but at least she's a Malamar now.

Now I decide to head into the Gym, since I have nothing else better to do - and since I have two strong Dark types in Jan and Froaklin, I'm not hugely scared. However, on the first battle, I do something recklessly moronic that is probably the most idiotic thing I've made this playthrough (including the Psychic incident that lost me my Ms. Mime): I actually try using Blinky in a battle against an Exeggutor 14 levels higher than her - and to the surprise of probably no one, one Wood Hammer KOs her easily. I don't think I can really even complain about it, since it was a knowingly bad decision and I really should have known better. Even though I foolishly thought that she might have a chance. Oh well.
This puts me in a bit of a predicament: Normally I'd skip to the next route to catch my Pokemon there and put it straight on my team - but it's blocked off for the time being. There are 3 Pokemon that are probably the only real 3 candidates in terms of levels (I just don't wanna be playing catch up with one of them for however long) - Lou-Lou the Sneasel, Scorpa the Skorupi, and my old friend Gabite. I have every single type they provide on my team already (except Skorupi's Bug type, but that's gone in about 5 levels anyway), so no matter my choice, it'll give me doubled-up types (tripled-up in the case of Sneasel's -and Skorupi's eventual - Dark type).

Eventually I choose Gabite -after all, I did promise it that I'd swap it into my team if my team ever needed a member replaced. And even though it is lower levelled than the rest of my team, I do also know how good Garchomp is- and head back to the Gym (a bit off story but I love this Gym design and puzzle so much). I have a bit of a panic over a Medicham, since Batsy - who I chose to use against it - is weak to Psychic, but thankfully it all went fine. Otherwise I pretty much just breeze through all the trainers with Jan and Froaklin.
Now it's finally time to battle against the Gym Leader Olympia. She starts with Sigilyph, me with Gabite - who gets swapped out for Froaklin immediately. Froaklin almost 1HKOs it, but it just survives. Even after a Hyper Potion the next turn, it still goes down very easily. Jan makes short work of both her Slowking and Meowstic, 1HKOing both of them with Crunch - only taking little damage from Meowstic. That might have been the easiest Gym battle yet.

Immediately after leaving, my rival comes over, wanting a rematch -I literally beat you about 20 minutes ago and I've just decimated a Gym Leader with only two of my team members what makes you think you'll suddenly beat me this time-, but before that can happen we get a call on the Holo Caster from Lysandre - who announces that Team Flare plans to use the ultimate weapon and eliminate everyone who isn't part of their group to return the world to a more beautiful state -seriously your team has the most awful ugly outfits known to man what makes you qualified to talk about anything related to beauty whatsoever-. Then a couple of grunts conveniently standing next to the Gym basically tell me exactly where I need to go; a cafe in Lumiose City. After a quick flight there courtesy of Batsy Stone, I go into said cafe and battle a couple of Team Flare grunts who are pretending to be a waiters -are my eyes deceiving me or are these Team Flare members wearing outfits that aren't completely horrendous?!- and they tell me what I need to say to open the door to Lysandre Labs.
After entering, I find myself in battle with Lysandre himself. Batsy Stone makes quick work of his Mienfoo, and I plan to use Goo Lord's Thunderbolt on his Gyarados, which I think should work well enou -IT'S USING OUTRAGE PLEASE SURVIVE SLIGGOO- 'critical hit! Goo Lord fainted!'.
-Now I am completely and utterly fuming. I am going to end this entire team myself. This has gone beyond hurt into full blown hatred. Screw waiting for the authorities to deal with Team Flare - I will deal with them myself. I may have shown dislike for them before, but now I am going to show them just what they've gotten themselves into.-

Sharing my same anger, Jan avenges her fallen teammate. Froaklin deals with his Pyroar, also fuelled by hatred for these evil doers. I'm also pretty sure the Icicle Crash Mabel uses on his Murkrow is a lot stronger than the one he'd usually use.
My heart is breaking putting Sliggoo in the PC, never to be used again -my sweet dragon slug, I will always cherish and treasure our time together and let it be known that I will avenge you by ruining the whole of Team Flare-. I decide that I may as well use Scorpa in place of Goo Lord, so she goes onto my team.

I'm actually going to end the part here even though it's shorter than usual, since I'm still busy - and I'd quite like to get the rest of Lysandre Labs done in one take, and I'm not sure how long that'll take.

After beating Lysandre and getting my team sorted after the unfortunate incident involving Sliggoo, I head forward to make good on my promise to the dragon slug; I will defeat Team Flare if it's the last thing I do. The first grunt provides no real challenge, with her Swalot going down easily to Jan. I do also do a fair bit of bait-and-switching with Scorpa, since I actually quite like Drapion and I am not going to have a repeat of what happened with my short-lived Malamar. After a warp panel, I encounter the first Team Flare Scientist -I believe I referred to her as JLo before, so I'm sticking with that- and ironically Scorpa would on paper be the best mon to deal with her Mightyena. However, this is not paper, it's a 3DS, and my lv.34-no-Bug-move-having Skorupi is probably the worst choice to deal with a Pokemon that is 12 levels higher than her. Froaklin takes the Mightyena down easily enough though -of course it helped that it used Embargo then Taunt on a Pokemon which didn't have a) a hold item and b) any non-damaging moves-. She then uses a Druddigon, which gets 1HKO'd from a single Icicle Crash courtesy of Mabel. She then graciously lets me pass - and of course I pick the wrong panel and it takes me back to the entrance. A short walk and I'm back where I was though.

Aferwards, I go on one of those spinning tiles, and end up battling another grunt. I let Chompy deal with the Swalot they send out, even though he's a bit underlevelled I still feel like he could hold his own; he does have STAB super-effective Dig after all. Plus I just want a Garchomp. In a small room, I encounter the same mysterious heroes that I found in the Power Plant and who definitely aren't Dexio and Sina, and get some Revives from them -if only they knew-. They then warn me to not do anything reckless -they can say that all they like. I know what Sliggoo would've wanted me to do- and I'm off again. In a room full of beds, a Team Flare grunt gives me the TM for Taunt -thanks I guess?- and another accuses me of being part of their group -I have never been so insulted in all my life-.
Back in the main area, I, for the fun of it, decide to use Scorpa against a Liepard 9 levels higher than her - and surprisingly she actually survives a Night Slash and almost 1HKOs the cat with a critical hit X-Scissor. However, I don't want to risk anything happening, and there is no way she'd survive another hit, so Froaklin comes to the rescue to finish the job. Mabel deals with that same grunt's Mightyena. Another grunt uses a Houndoom which Froaklin takes down with ease, and their Toxicroak is basically target practice for Batsy Stone to use Fly on.

Another grunt proclaims 'F to the L to the A to the R to the E' -thank god it wasn't H to the O to the N to the E to the Y to the G- and to get back at her for getting that song in my head, Chompy ends her Manectric and Batsy ends her Scrafty.
I then keep on stepping on the wrong spinning tile about 5 times running and spend more time than I care to admit to looking a fool and going back and forth to the same place. Aferwards I find some BlackGlasses though, which I imagine will actually come in quite useful since I'm on my way to having 3 Dark types on my team.
The next trainer has a Mightyena which Scorpa deals with herself fully, and I'm glad she's closer to being really battle-ready. Chompy deals with the Toxicroak they send out. However, I then look a real fool by taking the wrong spinning tile and ending up getting lost.

After finding my way, I'm battled by the two Scientists who I believe I battled at the PokeBall Factory. Jan and Chompy team up to deal with the first one, with Chompy taking out her Manectric and Jan beating her Drapion. I actually didn't anticipate her Drapion having X-Scissor -I literally have it on my Skorupi which probably makes that look worse- but the only time it tried using it was when Jan was in the first stage of Dig, so there wasn't really anything to worry about. The second admin starts with Liepard which Scorpa takes care of, then I take a bit of a risk sending Mabel out against her Bisharp - but Iron Head does a lot and I can't risk anything happening to my Mabel. Instead, Froaklin and Jan deal with it. After beating them, they explain to me that they plan to use the energy from the graves on Route 10 for something which I don't quite understand. Science was never my subject and it shows.

After battling another grunt, my Scorpa hits the great level 40 - and now I have a Drapion on my team. I then find the final Scientist -who irritatingly shares the same name as my Beartic- and like before, Froaklin deals with her Houndoom easily. She also has a Weavile this time, which I think loses 1/4 of its HP when I tell Mabel to use Superpower on it - and to literally no surprise, it stands no chance when Mabel actually uses Superpower on it. She then gives me an Elevator Key -not that I'm complaining but they were under no obligation to do anything to help me. Do they secretly want the team to fail as well?- and I head to the bottom floor.

Going along, I see Lysandre - and I think I feel most of my Pokemon want to get him for what he did to my Sliggoo -what the hell why does he have someone locked up here- and his prisoner tells me the story of a war in which a Pokemon died, then said Pokemon's trainer tried bringing it back to life, then ended up becoming a 'bringer of destruction'. Afterwards, Lysandre tells me his name is AZ, and then tells me to meet him in his room on the actual bottom floor. He then leaves, leaving me to battle a final scientist, Xerosic. He has a Crobat that Mabel deals with, and a Malamar that Scorpa X-Scissors. After beating him, he lets me press one of two buttons; one will activate the ultimate weapon, one won't. I actually pick the one that doesn't - but to no avail; he activates it himself. After a cutscene in which Geosenge Town gets wrecked with the machine activating, he brags about how everyone except Team Flare will perish and that it's a win for science. But it won't be if I can help it. In the next part I plan to face Team Flare and put an end to them once and for all.

Not the longest part, but I feel like if I included the Team Flare HQ part it would've been a lot longer, and I'd rather have two medium-y parts than one big one. plus it's a) getting late where I am and I'm tired and b) my 3DS is running out of battery

is always a good sign, especially when such a grueling run is taking place. Great job on evolving Drapion, the next step is Garchomp. :)

it feels like it's been a while. But I'm back!

After finishing up at Lysandre Labs, I head over to Geosenge Town courtesy of Batsy Stone Airlines to pay a visit to the Team Flare HQ -and avenge my Sliggoo at the same time-. After a quick battle against a grunt, it turns out that the suspicious rock in a corner of the town is actually the entrance to their HQ. I then discover that they have a mysterious tree in the lab, which has something to do with the Ultimate Weapon. After brief conversation with Lysandre, I find myself in another battle with him -and I'm thankful. I've been waiting for this moment to get back at him for what he did to my Sliggoo-. His Mienshao goes down easily enough to Batsy's Fly. Next up is his Gyarados - and that's what I'm really worried about, since I have no real Electric or Rock type moves on my team. I actually start out with Krookodile, mainly for the quick Intimidate to help get its attack stat down. I switch out immediately to Froaklin, who barely gets dented by Aqua Tail. One Extrasensory (with a nice added flinch) and a Night Slash get it to just above half HP. Gyarados then uses Outrage -and I think to myself, this would be such a perfect job for my old Ms. Mime. Immune to Outrage, plus Thunderbolt to hit it for 4x weakness. I miss Ms. Mime-. One Outrage does a bit too much damage for me to be comfortable, so I switch back to Jan for another Intimidate. It doesn't do very much, but Gyarados now is confused - but more importantly, not locked into Outrage. My initial plan was for Jan to use Crunch, but even at -2 attack and being confused it is still a strong Pokemon and I want to stay cautious. However I do get very lucky, with Crunch almost knocking it out, and then it hits itself in confusion, knocking itself out.
Next up is Pyroar; Froaklin 1HKOs the lion with Surf. Finally, he sends out Honchkrow, 1HKO'd courtesy of Mabel's Icicle Crash.

Heading down the corridor with my rival, a pair of Team Flare members inform us that the Legendary Pokemon is at the end of the corridor. They then challenge us in a double battle; however their Liepard and Toxicroak are no match for our Drapion and Meowstic. Well, Meowstic ends up getting KO'd, but the important thing is that all my team are fine. Along the corridor again, another pair of Team Flare members challenge us; this time using a Mightyena/Manectric combo. This proves a bit trickier, but after their Manectric uses Discharge it actually leaves its teammate -and annoyingly, my Drapion- paralysed. However, Gabite comes to the rescue and finishes the job. Plus, Gabite levels up, making it one level closer to becoming a Garchomp. Shauna then joins us, with the all important message of 'friends should stick together'. Shortly after, we encounter a third pair of TF members, which my Gabite and my rival's Meowstic have little trouble defeating. After traversing more, we come to a door with an electronic lock; Shauna uses the device Clemont gave her a while back to open it for us, which was quite useful.

Entering a large chamber, we see a tree-like statue atop a machine with a bunch of glowing orange tubes on it; suddenly several Team Flare admins come to try and stop us, but Shauna distracts a couple of them and leaves 4 for me to deal with. The first one has a Swalot which Jan takes care of. The second one has a Liepard and a Manectric, which Batsy Stone and Gabite deal with respectively. Plus, Gabite hits the all-important lv. 48 and evolves into Garchomp.
The third admin has a Mightyena and a Houndoom. Drapion deals with the Mightyena, and I use my all-new Garchomp on the Houndoom. The fourth and final admin uses a Golbat; Drapion has a bit of trouble with it, but Mabel comes to the rescue with Icicle Crash.

After I defeat them, they all run off -like they should- and leave me alone with the tree-that's-actually-a-legendary-Pokemon. Suddenly the tree starts glowing and shaking - and before I know it, it's revealed that it is in fact the legendary Xerneas! which I accidentally knock out thanks to Batsy's Cross Poison. I then battle it again, this time catching it (Although I don't plan on using it during this run as I know legendaries are generally not allowed in nuzlockes). Before I have time to celebrate, I'm battled again by Lysandre, this time sporting some funky accessories. Like last time, Batsy 1HKOs his Mienshao with Fly, Froaklin 1HKOs his Pyroar with Surf, and Mabel 1HKOs his Honchkrow with Icicle Crash.
His Gyarados is where it gets a tiny bit more tricky, since it now becomes Water/Dark - I use Drapion to begin with, and Poison Fang actually poisons it - but at a cost: Gyarados retaliates with Earthquake, and leaves my poor Drapion 1HKO'd -even though yes I'm sad, I'm also kind of glad that it wasn't any of the others since Drapion is probably the most replaceable team member. Does that make me a bad person for saying this-. I did consider switching Mabel in since Superpower is probably the strongest move I have that's SE against Mega Gyarados, but it already took a Steel Wing from Honchkrow and I don't wanna risk anything more. However my trusted Batsy Stone came to the rescue and after a couple of Flies, I defeat Team Flare for good. Lysandre then tries to have one last attempt at using the last weapon - but it backfires and the weapon ends up being destroyed.
After chatting with the Masked Heroes and my pals, the old guy that Lysandre had in a cell comes to talk to me about things that I don't pay attention to because I was briefly busy with something else.
Flying back to Anistar City to pick up where I left off, I edit my team to put Drapion in the PC, and rather than take another Pokemon out, I actually plan on waiting until the next route to see what that gives me. Which should be very soon. (for real, I actually plan to get it done by Thursday)
