Have an interesting situation here... While dueling a friend, we had a scenario happen where my opponent (Jolteon EX) knocked out my active pokemon using Flash Ray. I then moved my Keldeo GX from the bench to my active pokemon, then tried to attack with Sonic Edge, which sparked a debate.

Jolteon's Flash Ray has an attack message of: During your opponent's next turn, prevent all damage done to this Pokémon by attacks from Basic Pokémon.

Keldeo GX's Sonic Edge has an attack message of: This attack's damage isn't affected by any effects on your opponent's Active Pokémon.

Which one wins out? Please Help!

Sonic Edge wins out.

Flash ray puts an effect on Jolteon saying "prevent all damage from Keldeo". Sonic Edge then says "ignore any effect on Jolteon". Thus, it ignores the effect from Flash Ray.

The compendium has several examples, this one being the first I found:

Q. Player A attacks and flips a heads for "Agility". Then Player B uses Machamp's "Brick Smash" attack; would this ignore Agility?
A. In this case, Agility would be considered an "effect on the Defending Pokémon" and therefore Brick Smash would be able to overcome Agility. (Feb 17, 2005 PUI Rules Team)
