TCG Fakes Monarch's Fall Set - M Salamance EX Out!

I've been drafting this set together for a while now. It will have 93 cards (106 including Full Arts) and is themed around the rise and fall of royalty, featuring Pokemon with thematic relation to kings, emperors, nobles etc. This set will feature Mega Altaria and Mega Salamance, and contains Siftry EX, Kingler EX, Luxray EX and the legendaries Ho-Oh EX and Giratina EX. The two Ancient Traits in this set are:

μ Valor
> This Pokemon can always attack, even if an effect were to prevent you from doing so.

μ Wealth
> Whenever you attach an Energy card to this Pokemon, draw a card.

This set will sport several mechanical tweaks, which include more attacks being available on the first turn, as well as the switching of Basic EXs from being 'Basic Pokemon', to 'Basic EX Pokemon'. It also brings back the additive Weakness system on everything besides EXs, aimed to put more reasons to play non-EXs over EXs while keeping the two balanced to each other.

This set, and all the other sets by me in this series will take place in its own isolated format, with some cards being reprints from previous sets due to them having concepts which I am fond of. I won't be 'reprinting' all that often though. Just half a dozen or so in each set at most, with tweaks to those cards to fit them in (additive weakness system, resistance changes, etc.).

Wealth Energy
(Special Energy)

Wealth Energy provides [C] Energy. When you attach Wealth Energy from your hand to your Active Pokémon, draw 2 cards.

I debated on whether to have it draw 3 cards or 2 cards given that this costs your Energy Attachment for the turn and cannot be used on something you want to power up on the Bench, then figured I'd just go with the higher number and adjust it depending on feedback.

Nidoran- Psychic - 50 HP
(Basic)

[C] Call for Brother

Put a Nidorino from your hand onto your Bench.

[P][C] Horn Hazard 40

Flip a coin. If tails, this attack does nothing.

Weakness: [P] +10 Resistance: [G] +20 Retreat Cost: 1

Nidorino - Psychic - 90 HP
(Stage 1)

Ability: Family Protector

Once during your turn (before your attack), or at any time between turns, if this Pokémon is on your Bench, you may switch this Pokémon with your Active Nidoran♀, Nidoran♂, Nidorina or Nidoqueen.

[P][C][C] Linear Attack 30

Does 30 damage to 1 of your opponent's Benched Pokémon. (Don't apply Weakness and Resistance for Benched Pokémon.)

Weakness: [P] +20 Resistance: [G] -20 Retreat Cost: 2

Yes, the Nido Family will be for the most part working together.

haha, pretty handy in real life :p
linear attack may be stronger in my opinion.
Like 40 damage or 30 to 1 of your opponents pokemon. If the biggest opponent is active you can't do damage to it with this attack,
But cool name though! :p

I'd suggest 2 or even 1 cards. Probably 2, like Lucky Helmet.
1 is a bit too poor... It is a Special Energy that you need to attach to the active to benefit from, so it isn't like it is unrestricted draw in the way Unown AOR is. I'm leaning towards 2 (you can still get 3 if your Active has Wealth, but I'll give it a little while in case some others want to have their say.

Edit:

Special Energy Recycler
(Trainer - Item)

Discard 2 cards from your hand. (If you can't discard 2 cards, you can't play this card.) Shuffle 2 Special Energy cards from your discard pile into your deck. (You can't choose a card you discarded with the effect of this card.)

You may play as many Item cards as you like during your turn (before your attack).

Wait until you see Nidoking. ;) The attack name is nothing special though. It was an attack Team Magma's Groudon had many years back.

Archeologist
(Supporter)

Look at the bottom 10 cards of your deck. You may choose to reveal any Restored Pokémon you find there and put them onto your Bench, or reveal a Stadium Card you find there and put it into your hand. Shuffle the other cards back into your deck.

You may play only 1 Supporter card during your turn (before your attack).

Aurorus - Water 130 HP
(Stage 1)

Ability: Royal Freeze

When you attach a Royal Energy from your hand to your Active Aurorus, you may leave the Defending Pokémon Paralyzed.

[W][F][C] Chilling Wind 80+

If the Defending Pokémon a Restored Pokémon or is evolved from a Restored Pokémon, this attack does 40 more damage. Move 1 Energy attached to this Pokémon to 1 of your Benched Pokémon.

Weakness: [F] +20 Resistance: Retreat Cost: 3

I'm removing Maractus EX, as well as a few other cards for use in a future set (seriously, this set was a little too big).

Thanks.

Shiftry EX - Grass - 170 HP
(Basic-EX)

[G][C] Leaf Katana 30

Put 6 damage counters on the Defending Pokémon at the end of your opponent's next turn.

[G][D][D] Monarch's Fall 60+

If your opponent's Active Pokémon is a Mega Evolution Pokémon, this attack does 40 more damage for each Energy attached to the Defending Pokémon.

Pokémon-EX rule: When a Pokémon-EX has been Knocked Out, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards.

Weakness: [R] x2 Resistance: [D] -20 Retreat Cost: 2

Thanks for the compliment!

Tyrantrum - Fighting - 130 HP
(Stage 1)

Ability: Royal Wrath

If this Pokémon has any Royal Energy attached to it, each of its attacks do 30 more damage to the opponent's Active Pokémon.

[F][F][C] Crushing Jaw 80

Discard an Energy attached to the Defending Pokémon.

Weakness: [W] +20 Resistance: [C] -20 Retreat Cost: 3

Nidorina - Psychic - 90 HP
(Stage 1)

[P] Family Growth

Choose two of your Nidoran♀, Nidoran♂, Nidorina or Nidorino in play. Search your deck for a card that evolves from those Pokémon and put it onto those Pokémon. (This counts as evolving those Pokémon.) Shuffle your deck afterward.

[P][P] Double Kick 40x

Flip 2 coins. This attack does 40 damage times the number of heads.

Weakness: [P] +20 Resistance: [G] -20 Retreat Cost: 2

So here comes the first dragon type of this set. Since weakness and resistance are now +10-30 instead of x2, I'm giving each Dragon type that is not an EX a double Weakness and a double Resistance, if two can be found. Otherwise, just one of each.

Trimmed a little more fat out of the set to drop the card count further. This includes removing some Pokemon which I feel added nothing to the theme the set has going, like the Magnezone line, Lanturn line, Plusle and Minun.

Tyrunt - Fighting - 90 HP
(Restored Pokémon)

[F][F][C] Spinning Tail

This attack does 30 damage to each of your opponent's Pokémon. (Don't apply Weakness and Resistance for Benched Pokémon.)

Weakness: [W] +10 Resistance: [C] -20 Retreat Cost: 2

Tyrantrum - Dragon - 130 HP
(Stage 1)

μ Valor
> This Pokemon can always attack, even if an effect were to prevent you from doing so.

[F][C] Dragon Tail 30

You may have your opponent switch his or her Active Pokémon with 1 of his or her Benched Pokémon.

[F][F][M][C] Tyrant's Roar 140

Until the end of your opponent's next turn, each Pokémon your opponent has in play has no Abilities. (This includes cards that come into play on that turn.)

Weakness: [Y][N] +20 Resistance: [R][L] -20 Retreat Cost: 3

Amaura - Water - 100 HP
(Restored Pokémon)

[W] Cryofreeze 10 damage

Discard an Energy attached to this Pokémon. The Defending Pokémon can't attack during your opponent's next turn.

[W][W][C] Body Slam 50

Flip a coin. If heads, the Defending Pokémon is now Paralyzed.

Weakness: [M] +10 Resistance: Retreat Cost: 3

Treasurer
(Supporter)

Discard all Royal Energy attached to one of your Pokémon. For each Royal Energy you discarded, attach 2 Basic Energy Cards from your discard pile to that Pokémon.

You may play only 1 Supporter card during your turn (before your attack).

Edit:

Also reposting these two here to keep the OP less cluttered.

Safari Ball
(Item)

Put up to three cards from your hand on top of your deck. For each card, search your deck for a Pokémon with 60 HP or less and add it to your hand. Shuffle your deck afterwards.

You may play as many Item cards as you like during your turn (before your attack).

Nidoran♀ - Psychic - 60 HP
(Basic)

Ability: Family Call

When you play this card from your hand onto your Bench, you may search your deck for a Nidoran♀ or Nidoranand put it onto your Bench. Shuffle your deck afterwards.

[P] Poison Pin 10

The Defending Pokémon is now Poisoned.

Weakness: [P] +10 Resistance: [G] +20 Retreat Cost: 1

I edited Archeologist, making it a little more versatile in use rather than just a juiced up Fossil card. Also finalized Wealth Energy to draw only 2 cards instead of 3.

Updated Versions:

Archeologist
(Supporter)

Look at the bottom 10 cards of your deck. You may choose to reveal any Restored Pokémon you find there and put them onto your Bench, or reveal a Stadium Card you find there and put it into your hand. Shuffle the other cards back into your deck.

You may play only 1 Supporter card during your turn (before your attack).

Wealth Energy
(Special Energy)

Wealth Energy provides [C] Energy. When you attach Wealth Energy from your hand to your Active Pokémon, draw 2 cards.

And here are the Goldeens and Seaking. Figured that one is best made for setting up, and the non AT one is best made to have lots of synergy with Seaking.

Goldeen - Water - 40 HP
(Basic)

μ Wealth
> Whenever you attach an Energy card to this Pokémon, draw a card.

[C] River Guide

Search your deck for a card and put it into your hand, then shuffle your deck, or search your deck for 2 cards, shuffle your deck and put those cards at the bottom of your deck. You may then switch this Pokémon with 1 of your Benched Pokémon.

Weakness: [L] +10 Resistance: Retreat Cost: 0

Goldeen - Water - 50 HP
(Basic)

[] Horn Attack 10

[W] Water Bullets

This attack does 10 damage to 3 of your opponent's Pokémon. (Don't apply Weakness and Resistance for Benched Pokémon.)

Weakness: [L] +10 Resistance: Retreat Cost: 0

Seaking - Water - 80 HP
(Stage 1: Evolves from Goldeen)

[W] Horn Attack 30

[W][C] School Assault

This attack does 20 damage for each Seaking and Goldeen you have in play to each of your opponent's Benched Pokémon that has damage counters on it. (Don't apply Weakness and Resistance for Benched Pokémon.)

Weakness: [L] +20 Resistance: Retreat Cost: 1

Valor Energy
(Special Energy)

Valor Energy provides [C] Energy. If your opponent's active Pokémon is a Pokémon EX, Valor Energy provides [C][C].

AT Tyrantrum is awesome, I'd definitely build a deck around that card. It'd take a bit of work to get it set up, but Tyrantrum/Bronzong would be so fun.

[C] Uplifting Winds

Draw 2 cards. Then, if you have less than 6 cards in your hand, draw 2 more cards.

Resistance: [F] -20
Retreat Cost: 2

Nidoking - Fighting - 140 HP
(Stage 2 - Evolves from Nidorino)

Weakness: [W] +30

Sorry for the lack of updates lately. Exam weeks followed by tons of assignments and a couple of projects kinda does that to ya.

Also note that this series I'm working on will not have Muscle Band, so Honedge is one of your few outs for adding damage.

Wow, M Salamence has a pretty cool attack ;P

1 thing, Pupitar cam live almost every game endless with Endure!
i'd say it can't use that attack if it has 10 HP

True, but it is still vulnerable from damage through other sources, does no damage and can be worked around with effects that pull it out of the active position etc.
