  • RaichuGirl, yeah, about a month ago, right around when they revealed the type chart. Just something that's been building up, lately. Pokemon has been getting less and less enjoyable for me to play, and what with all the bad things I've been hearing about Gen 6 and the present course that the TCG is going...yeah, it's not fun, and I can't have fun playing Pokemon anymore.
RaichuGirl, nope. It's in Indianapolis, which is about in the middle of the country. I live on the West Coast, so to get there I'd have to fly there, and that...would be quite a lot.

And the one time I went to Worlds I didn't like it, so...I really don't like big places all that much. I thought there might be a possibility for me to head to Nationals for the coming year (2014), but seeing as how I've quit Pokemon for now...that looks extremely unlikely.
RaichuGirl, States and Regionals, at least for California, have about 400 people each, sometimes even more (one year we had 500+ people, and wow). Arizona (next door) has about 250, but a lot of them travel there from California. And it's convenient, because the AZ Regionals are in October and the AZ States are in March - which are great times of year to visit. Otherwise, well...it's Arizona; what do you think? :p

The USA Nationals always, always has over 1000 people. It's a larger event than Worlds, since Nats is not that hard to get into. Then again, maybe Worlds is larger and it doesn't seem as much since the venue is larger.
I wouldn't know; I've never been to Nats and I've only been to Worlds once.
RaichuGirl, yeah, Regionals was...hectic, to say the least (400 people or so, maybe more). Certainly fun, but hectic. Man, my feet hurt a lot and the day was only half over.

It's a fun way to think about tests, isn't it? That's how I tend to think about my classes too. Hope it helps!
RaichuGirl, so, like the boring period of time in between major TCG occurrences? I know that feel - though I actually tend to prefer them, because when they do happen, I'm judging all over the place, and it's quite tiring!

...though exams could be something to look forward to. ...in the sense that once they're done, they're over with.
RaichuGirl, not quite sure. I think everything's the same as it normally is; I had a low point this weekend but I'm okay now. Guess I'm mostly just bored and would like someone to talk to.
Any news or stories as of late?
    Souvenirs!
~Umbreon and Leafeon Pokedolls (gift for a friend)
    ~Crotcheted Cherish Ball
    ~Venusaur Pokedoll
~64 packs of Plasma Blast (probably going to sell these since I'm quitting the Pokemons)
~Fun memories and conversations, and catching up with old judge friends

    great stuff!
RaichuGirl, finally back from Regionals! And I feel great. One of the most fun weekends I've had in a loooooooong time.
RaichuGirl, no lunch break? aw ;-; Overtime is no fun either, for players or judges, I know.

I'll be carpooling up with a friend after he gets out of class today, and then I'll be judging while he will either be playing in TCG or spectating. I don't think he has a VGC team, to my knowledge.
RaichuGirl, technically BO3 Swiss, strictly speaking, isn't a bad idea, but it just annoys me because that means tourneys will go well into the night...
RaichuGirl, it's 8, actually, yeah. What is going to happen is there will be a top X cut-off for the first day of Swiss (I am assuming the top 25%) who will then go on to play for a 2nd day of Swiss. Then the top 8 of those will go off to play the top-cut.

But Swiss rounds are now best-of-3 50-minutes +3 turns, so uuuuuuuugh it's going to be a long weekend. Probably will be quite telling for how the year goes.
RaichuGirl, yeah, Regionals and States each tend to be 400+ or so - even the VGC tends to be just a little shy of 300.
We have a reeeeeeeeeally big playerbase in and around California.
RaichuGirl, Regionals is really early for us; this is the first tourney of the new modified format, actually. =/ It's going to be...interesting. It'll be a good meta tell as well.

Though, the fact that it's on the same date as X/Y release date makes me lol. Maybe that means there'll be a smaller turnout!
...ahahahaha yeah right, this is California; our tourneys are always 300+ people
RaichuGirl, *checks watch* oh right, Australia, of course :p

I have all my work out of the way, basically! I'm now packing my things and getting ready to head off to Regionals tomorrow afternoon! It'll be a fun, long, and interesting weekend, to be sure, but I'm looking forward to it! Been a while since I've been to NorCal. It's nice up there.
    RaichuGirl, yeah.
One of the mothers at the league couldn't understand why we got so intense over Mario Party games.

Then her son managed to pick up Mario Party 6 for cheap at a GameStop. (It was either less than $5, or it was free, but either way...) He invited his mother to play.

    And then she understood.
RaichuGirl, yep. Mario Party DS. Works for Download Play. Our games are very intense.
Friendships are almost broken over it. But that makes sense, since Mario Party is known far and wide as the destroyer of friendships, right next to Four Swords.
RaichuGirl, okay, could be better, trying to trudge through the week by wrapping up my assignments ASAP before the week is up and I run out of time. And trying to figure out how to spend my weekend. I'll probably go to league, but I don't know what to do while I'm there. Probably bring Mario Party again.
