  • happy birthday; long time no see!
(seriously, you vanished a while back; you were missed)
aikira21, there's been substantially less people here who worry about Worlds ratings, probably because either 1) they're good enough as it is or 2) they drop when top cut's about to start to preserve ranking (or when they have a x-0 rating and are satisfied with it). I definitely don't doubt their skill though, but eh. Even so, lol people who care about rating

I don't like playing what other people play either. Heck, in MD-on, I had played the same deck for pretty much the entire year (basically a Regigigas toolbox) and fine-tuned it to be counter-meta. It wasn't a super-amazing list and it still had problems with Machamp, but it did manage to go 5-3 at Regionals, almost enough for top cut. (One of those losses was due to a donk, and another due to not noticing Special Metal, but still mostly legitimate, as was the 3rd loss.) And it was fun. Amazingly so. Regigigas LV.X was and still is definitely a card to be feared.

I've actually only had a few mirror matches in my entire career of TCG playing. The one I remember the most was at league (Cursegar), and I think when I was running a Plox variant I had a few mirror matches as well...but I don't think a lot of people ran Slowking GE (Trump Card is boss). As for Gigas mirror match? Never happened and probably never will.
aikira21, I doubt I'll get my opponents to scoop since the people in my area aren't the type to do that (they're all great players), but at least I can stall them out forever. Loving Second Sight.

I really want to keep playing Gengar, but with all the elephants running around I can't keep the Gengar cycle (Rescue Energy) going fast enough, and in the meantime they're using Junk Arm to discard Pokemon from their hand which causes me no end of frustration. Gengar is such a fun deck, and Slowking makes him amazing! But for now I'm going to try something with Vileplume to see if it gets me anywhere, and if it doesn't, I have either Gengar or Blastoise to fall back on. (I ran Blastoise in MD-on before it was cool.)

In the end I'll see how it goes. It's weird for me because I'm going to be building a deck that I would never see myself building, ever. I've always decried it in the past (not Vileplume, just the main attackers), but it's got the best synergy with Vileplume so hey, I might as well.
aikira21, I agree that the metagame is way too cookie-cutter now - even so than it was before.
At my league people actually do try to play fun or unusual decks (one of my friends who has just moved up to Masters is running Mewbox of all things, and another friend is running Shining Suicune - and both decks work great), and I'm trying to shift to something Vileplume-based myself. Right now I'm running Gengar, since I'm a big fan of gimmicks (most every deck I have run for the past several years is gimmick), and I view Slowking as a staple for the deck (and he's amazing - I was vsing a ZPS at a Worlds side-event, my worst nightmare, and I stalled him out for 7 turns with Second Sight; I lost, but still, Slowking is great, and the Prime isn't half bad either), so that guy has helped me win many a game.

Lock decks are pretty much my favorite decks to see, because even though they're sometimes slow in setting up themselves, they slow your opponent down even more. I think something Vileplume will be good for BRs, because I hate Yanmega with a passion (after going to Worlds and seeing the format for what it was) and since most of the builds nowadays are very Trainer-heavy, I figure either Gothitelle or Vileplume is a good answer. And since Vileplume is much more fluid, I'm going with that.

I miss MD-CoL format so very badly. I played my favorite deck ever then.
aikira21, How are YOOOOOU? Just felt like talking to someone I don't really know and that someone is you. =D
