TCG Fakes Ninja Penguin's Text-Based Fakes - Day and Night

NinjaPenguin

Always standing out from the crowd.

Hi! I was thinking about how Sun and Moon would affect the TCG when I thought of the idea for this set, which I'm calling Day and Night.
This set features:
-75 Cards (not counting requests)
-Game Changing Pokemon GX
-Alola Pokemon
-Time, a new mechanic
-And much more

As you saw above, there is a new mechanic called time. In every match, there will be a double sided time token, with one side that has a sun and another side that has a moon. If the sun is facing up, it is day. If the moon is facing up, it is night. Whoever goes second will get to decide what time the token starts on.
So everybody knows, my faking style will be like this:

Oh, your Time mechanic is very interesting, would love to see more of it! ^.^
Dialga having 150HP might be a bit much, but that's up to you.

Since you're up for requests, I'd like to see an Unfezant from you!

I feel like making another fake, so here is the first trainer:
Trainer/Stadium
Shoal Cave

If the Day side of the Time Counter is face-up, the attacks of each [F] Pokémon (both yours and your opponent's) do 30 more damage to your opponent's Active Pokémon (before applying Weakness and Resistance).

If the Night side of the Time Counter is face-up, each [W] type Pokémon in play (both yours and your opponent's) gets +40 HP.

2/75 U
P.S. I have a question for everybody. Can you think of a better wording for "Switch the Time"?
I seems a bit awkward to me.

Hey, NP! Welcome to our little creative corner of the 'Beach. :)

Unfortunately there aren't really any references to use for wording for the Time mechanic, since nothing like it has ever been done before (to my knowledge, anyway). However, "switching" is an existing term––the act of moving a Pokémon to the Bench without retreating––so you may like to use something different, such as reverse, change, or turn.

You might also consider using "Time counter" or "Time marker", instead of just "Time", since you're referring to an object that represents a mechanic, not the mechanic itself.

The wording I'd suggest is this:

[M][M][C][C] Roar of Time 50+
If you have turned the Time counter this turn, this attack does 100 more damage.

If the Day side of the Time counter is face-up, the attacks of each [F] Pokemon (both yours and your opponent's) do 30 more damage to the Defending Pokemon (before applying Weakness and Resistance).

As for other minor nitpicking things...
  • "you" -> "your" (Dialga's Time Swap)
  • "bench" -> "Bench" (Dialga's Time Swap)
  • "Defending Pokemon" -> "Your opponent's Active Pokémon" (Shoal Cave)
  • In general, I'd suggest including the accent over the "e" in "Pokémon". This is alt + e on most keyboards, followed by a second e.
Hope that helps. :)

New Cards (for some underrated Pokemon):
Basic/Corsola/HP 90/Water

Ability: Natural Cure
When you attach a [W] energy from your hand to Corsola, remove all Special Conditions from your Active Pokémon.

[W] Flail 20+
This attack does 10 more damage times the number of damage counters on this Pokémon.

Weakness: [G] x2 Resistance: [R] -20
Retreat Cost: [C][C]
3/75 U
Corsola love to live in warm seas. If the seas ever get cold, they migrate south.
Basic/Mienfoo/HP 60/Fighting

[F] Drain Punch 20
Heal 10 damage from this Pokémon.

Weakness: [C] x2 Resistance: [D] -20
Retreat Cost: [C]
4/75 C
Mienfoo are some of the most elegant fighters in the world. Their combos are considered to be artistic masterpieces.
Stage 1 ~ Evolves from Mienfoo/Mienshao/HP 130/Fighting

[C][C] Fake Out 40
If Mienshao evolved from Mienfoo during this turn, the Defending Pokémon is now Paralyzed.

[F][C] Arm Lash 70

Weakness: [C] x2 Resistance: [D] -20
Retreat Cost: [C][C]
5/75 U
Mienshao are known for their resilience. Once a Mienshao starts to attack, nothing can stop it.

P.S. Thanks for your help @Jabberwock. Are you sure your Shoal Cave wording is correct? I based mine off of Fighting Stadium.
P.P.S. The set numbers are going to get super weird, as compared to a normal set (where everything is organized by type). Just ignore that.

First GX and the first Supporter:
Basic/Lunatone GX/HP 180/Psychic

Ability: Levitate
Prevent all damage done to this Pokémon by attacks from your opponent's [F] type Pokémon.

[P][P][P] Spinning Orbit 100
You may discard 2 [P] energy attached to this Pokémon. If you do, this attack does 40 damage to each of your opponent's Benched Pokémon. (Don't apply Weakness and Resistance for Benched Pokémon.)

[C][C] Pure Darkness GX
Turn the Time Counter to Night. The Time Counter cannot be turned again for the rest of the game (except by Resilient Light GX). (You can’t use more than 1 GX attack in a game.)

Weakness: [G] x2 Resistance:
Retreat Cost: [C][C][C]
6/75 UR
When your Pokémon GX is Knocked Out, your opponent takes 2 Prize cards.
Trainer/Supporter
Jogger/Officer

If the Day side of the Time Counter is face-up, heal 50 damage and remove all Special Conditions from your Active Pokémon and heal 30 damage from your Benched Pokémon.

If the Night side of the Time Counter is face-up, during your turn, your Pokémon's attacks do 30 more damage to your opponent's Active Pokémon (before applying Weakness and Resistance) and the Defending Pokémon can't retreat during your opponent's next turn.

7/75 U
Fun Fact: Jogger/Officer is based off of DPP, where Joggers can only be battled in the Morning and Officers can only be battled at Night.
I think these cards came out well enough, though they may be a bit overpowered.
Edit: I just realized that this is my 500th post on PokéBeach!

P.S. Thanks for your help @Jabberwock. Are you sure your Shoal Cave wording is correct? I based mine off of Fighting Stadium.
Fighting Stadium actually received an errata shortly after its release, to change the text from "Defending" to "your opponent's Active". The difference is that "Defending" refers to the Pokémon receiving an attack, while "your opponent's Active" is ... well, your opponent's Active. So, for attacks such as Landorus-EX's Hammerhead, "Defending" would increase the damage done to Bench as well (which afaik has never actually been done). "Your opponent's Active" would increase only the damage done to the Active, and the damage done to the Bench would stay the same.

Thanks for the clarification. I forgot to reveal this earlier, so here it is:
Stage 2 ~ Evolves from Tranquill/Unfezant-Female/HP 110/Colorless

Ability: Perfect Pair
If Unfezant-Male is on your bench, any damage done to this Pokémon by attacks is reduced by 20 (after applying Weakness and Resistance).

[C][C] Sunny Surprise 50
Flip a coin. If heads, the Defending Pokémon is now Confused.

Weakness: [W] x2 Resistance:
Retreat Cost: [C][C]
79/75 R
Female Unfezant are known for using the light to enhance their natural beauty. They often fight over who gets the brightest patch of sunlight.
@TheFlyingPidove Are you happy with your pick? I made unique Dex Entries (instead of paraphrasing real ones) for the Unfezant line to make them more special.

New Cards:
Basic/Gligar/HP 70/Colorless

Ability: Razor Sharp Evolution
This Pokémon may only evolve when it is holding a Razor Fang and the Night side of the Time Counter is face-up.

[F] Jab 10
Flip a coin. If heads, prevent all effects of attacks, including damage, done to this Pokémon during your opponent's next turn.

Weakness: [G] x2 Resistance:
Retreat Cost: [C]
8/75 C
When a Gligar spots its prey, it flies down from the cliffside. It then proceeds to inject its target with poison.
Stage 1 ~ Evolves from Gligar/Gliscor/HP 130/Colorless

[C] Toxic Fang 30
The Defending Pokémon is now Poisoned.

[C][C][C] Beat Up 20+
This attack does 30 more damage times the number of your Pokémon whose Basic Stage has the Razor Sharp Evolution Ability.

Weakness: [G] x2 Resistance:
Retreat Cost:
9/75 R
When a Gliscor flies, it is completely silent. This allows it to attack prey with the greatest of ease.
Trainer/Item
Razor Fang

If this card is attached to a Gligar, Gliscor, Sneasel, or Weavile, each of the attacks of that Pokémon do 30 more damage to your opponent's Active Pokémon (before applying Weakness and Resistance).

10/75 U
These cards are a nice extension of the Time mechanic. I do need help with how Beat Up should be worded, it sounds very awkward ATM.

Weakness of Colorless for Fighting types?! OK, that's gonna take some getting used to, as the Fighting types I know all have a weakness of Psychic.

The whole point of that is to diversify weaknesses. It's incredibly boring auto-losing to a deck just because all of your Pokemon take double damage.
Now it's time to add Gligar's partner!
Basic/Sneasel/HP 60/Water

Ability: Razor Sharp Evolution
This Pokémon may only evolve when it is holding a Razor Fang and the Night side of the Time Counter is face-up.

[W] Frozen Claws 20
Flip 2 coins. If both are heads, the Defending Pokémon is now Paralyzed.

Weakness: [Y] x2 Resistance: [P] -20
Retreat Cost: [C]
11/75 C
Sneasel are known for deadly claws. Anything unlucky enough to startle Sneasel will automatically be torn to shreds.
Stage 1 ~ Evolves from Sneasel/Weavile/HP 100/Water

[C] Punishment
During the next turn, if you are damaged by an opponent's attack (even if this Pokémon is Knocked Out), put 5 damage counters on the Attacking Pokémon.

[W][W][C] Beat Up 40x
This attack does 40 damage times the number of your Pokémon whose Basic Stage has the Razor Sharp Evolution Ability.

Weakness: [Y] x2 Resistance: [P] -20
Retreat Cost:
12/75 R
Weavile are known for hunting in packs. They mark their territory by carving trees with their claws.

First Alolan Pokemon:
Basic/Exeggcute/HP 40/Grass

[G] Runny Egg 20
Discard this Pokémon and all cards attached to it (this does not count as a Knock Out).

Weakness: [R] x2 Resistance:
Retreat Cost: [C]
13/75 C
Although it may look harmful to Exeggcute, its eggs cracking are actually a good thing. The cracking is what allows it to evolve into Exeggutor.
Stage 1 ~ Evolves from Exeggcute /Exeggutor/HP 130/Grass

Ability: Walking Jungle
Once during your turn (before your attack), you may heal 20 damage from all of your Pokémon that have any [G] Energy attached to it.

[G][C][C] Egg Bomb 80
Discard any Stadium card in play. Your opponent can't play any Stadium cards from his or her hand during his or her next turn.

Weakness: [R] x2 Resistance:
Retreat Cost: [C][C]
14/75 R
The three heads of an Exeggutor all think and function separately; however, they never argue over anything.
Alolan Form ~ Transforms from Exeggutor/Alolan Exeggutor/HP 150/Dragon

Ability: Alolan Sun
If the Day side of Time Counter is face-up, Alolan Exeggutor retains the attacks and Abilities of its previous Evolution.

[G][P] Super Long Neck 120
This attack does 20 damage to every Benched Pokémon (Both yours and your opponent's). Apply Weakness and Resistance for Benched Pokemon.

Weakness: [N] x2 Resistance: [W] -20
Retreat Cost: [C][C]
15/75 UR
Due to high amounts of exposure to the sun, Alolan Exeggutor have a very large neck and a four heads. This causes many foreigners to run away in terror.
This is the Alolan Mechanic. Any Pokemon can transform into their Alolan form just by playing the card on top of it (even the first turn, since it is not an evolution.) What are your thoughts? Don't forget, you can request any Pokemon (including GXs and Alola forms (as long as they're canon)) or Trainer you want.
P.S. I don't know the abbreviation for Dragon type. What is it?
P.P.S. I half-wanted to make Egg Bomb "This ability unlocks when you die" in honor of @Squirtle Squad in Mafia XXIX

The abbreviation of Dragon is [N]. =P

Really like Egg Bomb - Stadium lock doesn't seem to be particularly big, so its nice to see some of that.

Thanks!
Let's add our first Gen 7 Pokemon!
Basic/Oricorio/HP 90/Fire

Regional Change
As often as you like during your turn (before your attack), you may switch Oricorio with a different Oricorio in your hand (Any attached cards, damage counters, Special Conditions, turns in play, and any other effects remain on the new Pokémon.)

Ability: Burning Fluff
Once during your turn (before your attack), you may use this Ability. Both Active Pokémon are now Burned. Put 4 damage counters instead of 2 on your Burned Pokémon between turns.

[R][R] Fiery Dance 50
This Pokémon does 30 damage to itself.

Weakness: [W] x2 Resistance:
Retreat Cost:
16/75 R
Baile Style Oricorio are known for their fiery passion. This allows it to exude extreme power while it dances.
Regional Change is basically an ancient trait. This allows the Oricorio to have two abilities/attacks.

[L] Zap 30

Weakness: [F] x2 Resistance:
Retreat Cost: [C]
17/75 R
Pom-Pom Style Oricorio are some of the best friends in the world. They always cheer for their friends.
Basic/Oricorio/HP 70/Psychic

[C][C] Flight of Spirits 10x
This attack does 10 damage times the number of Oricorio on your Bench.

Weakness: [P] x2 Resistance:
Retreat Cost: [C]
19/75 R
Sensu Style Oricorio are calm and peaceful. Their dances have the power to remind people of their homeland.
To account for the different forms, there would be a limit of 8 Oricorio in a deck (as opposed to the customary 4).

A special Day and Night themed attacker.
Basic/Cryogonal/HP 90/Water

[W][C] Night Slash 70
If the Day side of the Time Counter is face-up, this attack does nothing.

[G][W][C] Solar Beam 100
If the Night side of the Time Counter is face-up, this Pokémon's Solar Beam attack does nothing. During your next turn, this Pokémon's Solar Beam attack's base damage is 100 (even if the Night side of the Time Counter is face-up).

Weakness: [R] x2 Resistance: [N] -20
Retreat Cost: [C]
20/75 R
Cryogonal trap their prey with deadly ice chains. The prey is then frozen to temperatures lower than -100° C.
I recently found out Cryogonal can learn both Night Slash and Solar Beam, and I thought it would be an interesting idea for a card.
P.S. Would the Solar Beam attack's second sentence apply even if the Day side was face-up? If it does, how do I prevent that?
P.P.S. The next card I'm making is a GX (that has already been hinted at). The first person to guess it correctly wins a metaphorical cookie!

Not an expert on wording, but I'd say this:
This attack does 30 more damage times the number of Pokémon with the Razor Sharp Evolution Ability (wherever the Pokémon is).
With an attack with this, I'd presume they have to be in play. Where the Pokémon have to be should be specified, in my opinion. Aside from this, I really like your text fakes! They've got some really interesting concepts, and I like the idea of the Time mechanic! It's really interesting and I love its integration into the cards you've made so far.

Also, I'm betting on the GX being Solrock.

I'll have to agree with Jesi that Solrock is the next GX. Other Pokemon could be Sunflora, Espeon, Umbreon, and Cherrim though.
