Update (9:30 AM, Wednesday): Both Lawrence Neves, Pokemon’s editorial director, and Dave Schwimmer, one of POP’s managers, have confirmed the account is fake. TPCi is trying to get it removed from Twitter now.

It looks like TPCi is gettin’ hip and with the times, yo. The Pokemon Company International recently opened up a Twitter account that will apparently be used to answer fan questions every Tuesday. They’ll also provide general updates on the Pokemon franchise. Here are some of their more interesting answers, though what they imply we’ve always known:

  • Arceus is powerful, but it isn’t the last Pokémon. Many new lands with new Pokémon have yet to be explored!
  • A new game based on the Pokémon TCG has not crossed our minds, but that’s certainly an interesting thought!

Pokemon.com has officially revealed Arceus to American audiences. Laughably, Arceus has been known to anyone who has access to a Pokemon fansite for the past three years, and arguably, everything is known about the Alpha Pokemon at this point. But whatever. Arceus is a Pokemon now! Yay! Does this mean the little kids will stop calling that weird animal in our banner the deformed space goat that looks like it got stuck in a fence?

New Kingdra Artwork by Ken Sugimori

The official Japanese Pokemon website has updated their PokeDex with all of Ken Sugmori’s new artwork for Gold and Silver Pokemon. The artwork is in the same style as Pokemon he drew for Ruby and Sapphire, FireRed and LeafGreen, and Diamond and Pearl. For years the second generation Pokemon’s artwork was completely outdated in comparison to the other three generations, but now every Pokemon is drawn in the same type of style!

Note however that some Gold and Silver Pokemon’s artwork, such as Pichu and Misdreavus, was already updated when FireRed and LeafGreen came out. So, not all of the artwork is entirely new.

I’m hoping the site will be back up tomorrow. ^_^;; LOTS OF NEWS TODAY!!

Arceus Teaser Poster

Teaser Poster of 12th Movie – A small teaser poster image has been floating around Japanese image boards, pictured to the right. It confirms that Ash will have Monferno and Staraptor by movie 12, as we said the other day (Staraptor is under Monferno’s arm and Pachirisu’s tail – it’s a bit hard to see). It also shows movie characters, with one holding a glowing object. The text in the poster says “Giratina” – the image is obviously only a portion of a larger poster. We’ll bring you more information when we get it.

All POP 9 Scans – We have low-quality POP 9 scans thanks to a couple of players who earned the cards early. Click the thumbnails below for larger scans. The set’s booster pack features Garchomp and older Japanese promos.

Most of the promos were released around the time of movie 10’s release in Japan (the June and July before last). The Garchomp line, as we reported a while ago, was released at Battle Roads in Japan around last September along with a shiny Milotic players could download to Diamond and Pearl. Manaphy and Rotom were given out at stores when the first Platinum set was released in Japan, along with Carnivine G, Darkrai G, and Probopass G (the latter cards are probably being saved for our next English set). It would seem that POP sets have become PUSA’s dumping ground for junky and outdated Japanese promos, though they do have to release them somehow I suppose. At least there is only one reprint this time (Gible).

New “Pulse of the Frontier” Wallpaper – The official Pokemon Card website has released new wallpaper for “Pulse of the Frontier.” Select your screen resolution below to download the right image.

Movie 12 Create-a-Card Contest – Pokemon Card Laboratory is holding a create-a-card contest in which winners’ cards will be featured in a card portfolio for movie 12, “Arceus: Space-Time Conquered.” Children will submit fan art and card text of 12 Pokemon from the movie. Arceus and Pichu are two of the cards; the rest will be revealed in March’s Shogakukan magazines like CoroCoro, Pokemon Fan, CoroCoro Ichiban, Terebi-Kun, etc. Applications to submit the card art and text are also in the magazines. The portfolio, like the 11th movie one from last year, will be sold during the month of July.

The 12 first place winners will receive 100 sets of the portfolio and a Giratina DS lite, 60 second place winners will receive a jumbo card and some sort of Poke Ball toy, 120 3rd place winners will receive a “Pikachu’s Icy Adventure” DVD, and 320 random people will receive a “Garchomp vs. Charizard” theme deck from “Pulse of the Frontier.” Pretty cool! It looks like Arceus will be the first Pokemon card to be at Level 100 if the level is kept the same as in the example card below. Thanks goes to Heerosferret for translating this info!

Still working on the site! In the meantime, here’s more news.

Two Future Evo’s for Ash by Movie 12 – Heerosferret has informed us that at a Japanese convention, there was some 12th movie Pokemon merchandise featuring Ash… with Monferno and Staraptor. Other movie 12 merchandise from a month or so ago also featured Staraptor and Monferno, so it’s even more obvious now what’s going to happen to little Chimchar and Staravia. As Masamitsu Hidaka said during our interview, the writers always evolve Pokemon before some big event is going to happen. Maybe Ash and crew are going to the Battle Frontier and his Pokemon are evolving more than usual so he can compete. Not to mention Dawn’s Mamoswine.

Also, Heerosferret has decided that the best translation for the movie 12 title is “Arceus: Space-Time Conquered.” So that’s what we’re gong to call it from now on.

Arceus Plush – A new Arceus plush is going to be released soon in Japan. Click the thumbnail below for a larger image. The photo comes from Dengeki and thanks go to pkmncollectors for finding it.

The official Japanese Pokemon website and Pokemon movie website has revealed official images of Arceus. The first image below is the official Ken Sugimori artwork for Arceus while the rest are anime-versions of the Alpha Pokemon. Click the thumbnails below for larger images; I personally extracted all of the images and it took several hours (which is why the images are so large), so please do not steal them.

And yet two more CoroCoro images! The pages reveal that the movie title has been updated with the Alpha Pokemon: “Arceus – To the Conquering of Space-Time.” More importantly, we now know Heatran will have an actual role in the movie as well as Chikorita, Totodile, and Cyndaquil. I wonder if the Johto starters and the “Pokemon game” mentioned on last night’s CoroCoro page have any sort of connection (if it’s not referring to the upcoming Mystery Dungeon game, that is)… possibly a strong hint of a Gold and Silver remake? A Johto-themed Mystery Dungeon game? Speculation, of course, but we’ll see! Why else would they stick four Gold and Silver Pokemon into the movie? It could be for “no reason,” but we all know the Pokemon anime is always an elaborate advertisement for the games.

A new CoroCoro image of Arceus has emerged on Japanese image board 2ch. The scan is below. It says “Pokemon game and movie double scoop” and appears to be a page that you rip-open to reveal Arceus. What will CoroCoro have to tell us once all of its scans are revealed? We’ll see!

Redshark has been updated to version 3.00, featuring Mac-compatibility and the Platinum set. View this forum thread for more information and to download it. Redshark allows you to practice the Pokemon TCG on the computer and against people online.

The website should be back up late tomorrow night or the following day. Still have one midterm!

EDIT: Heerosferret has looked at the Japanese title of the movie in detail and has determined it translates to “To the Conquering of Space-Time.” My Japanese professor confirmed this title as well. So, an event will take place in which Dialga and Palkia are suppressed. I wonder who can do that? Maybe Arceus? :p

12th Pokemon movie Pikachu, Pichu, Piplup

A new image supposedly from the January issue of CoroCoro magazine is floating around Japanese image board 2ch and shows a Pichu with the same type of spiked ear as the silhouetted Pokemon in the screenshot of this news story. Could this be the Pokemon that was hidden behind the question mark? Is it the small, yellow, Electric Pokemon that the director said would save the world? We’ll find out soon!

Additionally, news from the magazine indicates that the 12th Pokemon movie will be tentatively named, “Toward Conquering the Emptiness of Space-Time” “To the Conquering of Space-Time” If Arceus is in the movie, its name may be added to the title at a later time.

Apparently the new CoroCoro issue also reveals that a new Pokemon will be unveiled at Japan’s World Hobby Fair in late January, as well as additional 12th Pokemon movie information. If this is true, then a 5th generation Pokemon will probably be revealed then. This may turn out to be the more important piece of news!

As a teaser, CoroCoro also states that a new Mystery Dungeon series will be revealed in its February issue next month.

We’ll find out more when we have actual scans of CoroCoro, so stay tuned!

As with Manaphy in December 2006 and Darkrai in December 2007, Shaymin’s silhouette can now be seen floating around Pokemon.com. Darkrai was officially revealed this past January, and then The Rise of Darkrai aired on Cartoon Network in February. Perhaps Shaymin will be revealed this January and then Giratina and the Sky Warrior will air in February. We’ll see…

At Japanese Battle Road tournaments, players will be given a Gible, Gabite, and Garchomp promo, in addition to a shiny Milotic for their Pokemon Platinum games. Battle Roads are part of the process of getting to Worlds for Japanese players, and since Worlds will now feature a video game tournament, it seems Pokemon is now “promoting” the video games at Japanese tournaments like never before.

Bangiras has translated the cards and Milotic’s stats below. Note that Gible is exactly the same as its Mysterious Treasures counterpart, spare that it now has a promo stamp instead of a “DP2” stamp.

Gabite and Garchomp Battle Roads Promos

Gabite LV.33 – Colorless – HP80
Stage 1 Pokemon – Evolves from Gible

[C] Sand Veil: Flip a coin, if heads prevent all damage done to Gabite by attacks during your opponent’s next turn.
[C][C][C] Mysterious Pulse: 60 damage. Before doing damage, remove 2 damage counters from the Defending Pokemon.

Weakness: Colorless (+20)
Resistance: none
Retreat: 1

Garchomp LV.64 – Colorless – HP130
Stage 1 Pokemon – Evolves from Gabite

[C] Dragon Rage: 80 damage. Flip 2 coins, if even one is tails this attack fails.
[C][C][C] Jet Sword: 100 damage. Discard 2 Energy attached to Garchomp and do 10 damage to each of your opponent’s Benched Pokemon.

Weakness: Colorless (+30)
Resistance: none
Retreat: 0

Milotic (Shiny) LV.50 @ Toxic Orb
~ Rain Dance
~ Recover
~ Hydro Pump

I was going to post these movie clips a few days ago and again yesterday, but I couldn’t get them to work here (I am still trying to figure out how to use the new video software I have). So, I’ll just show you where to look for them.

The official Pokemon movie website updated a few days ago with new clips from Giratina and the Icy Sky’s Bouquet: Shaymin. Once the website has fully loaded, locate on the front page the picture of the movie characters. Clicking different characters will show different clips, with six clips in total.

A longer trailer has finally been released for Giratina and the Icy Sky’s Bouquet: Shaymin, providing us with new and extended scenes. In the opening shot of Ash and crew, you can clearly see Dawn’s new Swinub and Ash’s newly evolved Gliscor, though this particular scene was revealed months ago. Giratina’s voice in the trailer sounds “scaly” and seems to come straight out of a Godzilla movie. It is thankfully not a reused cry that other Pokemon have used in the past, so it is new to the anime. Regigigas’ role is still not revealed, but it is shown briefly after the trailer has ended. Click the thumbnail below to open the video in a new window. It will begin to play right away.

Giratina and the Icy Sky's Bouquet: Shaymin

In one of the clips on the movie site, Shaymin is exposed to the pollen of a flower bouquet one of the movie characters is holding, and then transforms in to Shaymin Sky Forme. Today, the Japanese blog blue skY discovered that when Shaymin is exposed to a flower called Glacidia’s Flower in Pokemon Platinum, it will transform into its sky form. This is similar to Deoxys in Diamond and Pearl, where you expose it to different meteorites to induce its different forms. The flower is the same red flower that the movie trailers have been showing for months. When Platinum is released, it will be available in Floaroma Town.
