Breaking Through — Revisiting Golisopod-GX for London with Some New Tricks
Hello PokeBeach readers, I am back with a new take on Golisopod-GX, the deck that is my current top pick for London Internationals. I have been putting in some solid testing since my last major tournament, Daytona Beach Regionals, and I think this deck handles most of the metagame that I expect to see. Let’s jump right into the list.
Golisopod-GX / Latios
Strategy
This deck follows a similar strategy to most Golisopod-GX decks, but it does take the idea of making KOs happen and runs with it. Between having a very efficient attacker in the form of Golisopod-GX, adding snipe damage in Latios, and adding damage with both Choice Band and Professor Kukui, this deck seems to have answers for everything. Here is how some situations can play out to hit some numbers.
- Tapu Koko‘s Flying Flip = 20 damage
- Latios‘ Break Through = 30 damage
- Tapu Lele-GX‘s Energy Drive with two Energy = 40 damage
- Golisopod-GX‘s First Impression staying Active + Professor Kukui = 50 damage
- Latios‘ Break Through + Choice Band = 60 damage
- Tapu Lele-GX‘s Energy Drive with two Energy + Choice Band = 70 damage
- Oranguru‘s Psychic when they have no Energy attached+ Professor Kukui = 80 damage
- Tapu Lele-GX‘s Energy Drive with three Energy total + Choice Band = 90 damage
- Golisopod-GX‘s Armor Press = 100 damage
- Oranguru‘s Psychic when they have an Energy attached + Choice Band = 110 damage
- Golisopod-GX‘s First Impression from the Bench = 120 damage
- Golisopod-GX‘s Armor Press + Choice Band = 130 damage
- Golisopod-GX‘s First Impression from the Bench + Professor Kukui = 140 damage
- Golisopod-GX‘s Crossing Cut GX = 150 damage
- Latios‘ Break Through + Golisopod-GX‘s Armor Press + Choice Band = 160 damage
- Golisopod-GX‘s First Impression from the Bench + Choice Band + Professor Kukui = 170 damage
- Golisopod-GX‘s Crossing Cut GX + Choice Band = 180 damage
- Latios‘ Break Through + Latios‘ Break Through + Golisopod-GX‘s Armor Press + Choice Band = 190 damage
- Latios‘ Break Through + Golisopod-GX‘s First Impression from the Bench + Choice Band + Professor Kukui = 200 damage
- Oranguru‘s Psychic when they have five Energy attached + Choice Band + Professor Kukui = 210 damage
- Tapu Koko‘s Flying Flip + Golisopod-GX‘s Crossing Cut GX + Choice Band + Professor Kukui = 220 damage
- Latios‘ Break Through + Latios‘ Break Through + Golisopod-GX‘s First Impression from the Bench + Choice Band + Professor Kukui = 230 damage
While some of these numbers may be viewed as a stretch, these numbers provide different scenarios that you may stumble upon that you now have a way to get out of. Overall, the goal of this deck list is to take Knock Outs as efficiently as possible, using all resources to allow those Knock Outs happen.
