Exclusive Maushold ex, Gholdengo ex, and Rika Secret Rares in Chinese “Bonus Turn” Set!
China's next Scarlet & Violet set will be named Bonus Turn and will release on July 18th. It will include cards from 2023's Obsidian Flames and Paradox Rift.
The set will feature new Special Illustration Rares for Rika and Maushold ex and a new gold version of Gholdengo ex. Like many Chinese cards lately, these are likely to remain Chinese-exclusive since the original cards are from older sets.
Rika previously received a Special Illustration Rare. It's presumably been replaced in the Chinese set for the new one.
China's last set, Fearless Terastal, also introduced an exclusive Special Illustration Rare of Arcanine ex. We may continue to see new artwork in all of their Scarlet & Violet sets going forward.
China has been releasing compilation sets since 2022 to catch up with the rest of the world, which sometimes include new illustrations. Their compilation sets started with Sun & Moon. China's cards are printed in Simplified Chinese, while Taiwan and Hong Kong receive Traditional Chinese cards.
